Pakistani Youth and Pakistan Election 2008
By Ghazala Khan • Feb 15th, 2008 • Category: Pakistan Vote'08, Politics • One ResponseAlbeit of the lacklusterness of the current 2008 Election campaign for the Pakistan’s destiny, there is a very brilliant silver lining. Youth of the country will learn a lot from these elections in the rousing information age courtesy to the more readily available information through electronic media like cable channels and Internet.
As a result of this campaign, which is being played out amidst the protests of lawyers in the favour of deposed judiciary, and the protests of journalists over the controlled media, and the emotional atmosphere created after the horrendous assassination of Benazir Bhutto of PPP, the youth of this country now have gain first hand experience of the harsh realities of the modern era.
Youth know now the value of freedom, justice, peace and democracy. They know what it feels to live in the constant fear of terrorism, and why it gives bad feeling to live in a despotic regime.
As the campaign is drawing to its end, and the polling day is just 3 days away, youth will get more energized and they will surely pine for the true democracy. The thing is that we are passing through a very critical juncture of our history and these elections are not just elections but a race of ideological races of our life times.
It’s despotism versus democracy and its the the most crucial elections ever. Let’s skip the blather about rigging and anything else. If the youth of this country unite and join hands, no amount of rigging can stop their surge.

Agreed. My only question to you is…. who do we vote for???? everywhere we see are the tried-before or wanna-be corrupted souls. Who do we vote for… fine.. we’ve opened our eyes… we can clearly see what we want… but who can give us that? there isnt a single person who I think deserves my vote… not a single person. If I dunt vote… I end up being labelled.. how will I answer to the person in the mirror.. how will I tell him I let him down… if I do vote… who for??? yes or no… both paths lead to the same place… there isnt any light at the end of the tunnel.. no angel looking above us… shud we just give up… how long will we have to wait for a true leader… as the saying goes.. which has become more of a cliche now… ‘Only God can save Pakistan now’
