Now as the polling has entered in its final stages, and people have express their will over paklive1 teh ballot people, the question is that will this election provide us with a leader who would shepherd us into a brave new era of true democracy where we would have a working free judiciary and free media with equal opportunities and political solutions to all political problems.

There is quite an uncertainty in the air. Though thankfully the polling day has passed without any suicide attack or terrorist act so far, and there are sparing incident of violence, but all in all it was a relieving day. But people are still very much apprehensive about the outcome of the elections. After the leakage of Malik Qayyum’s tape and President Musharraf’s prediction over the victory of PML-Q, things are quite uncertain.

After eight years of dictatorship, now nation wants change, and they are disenchanted with PML-Q due to the back-to-back crisis, curbs on judiciary and media, and rising terrorism. It’s unpopularity is compounded by the acute shortages of flour, power, gas and other basic necessities of life.

All the opinion polls are favoring Nawaz Sharif’s party PML-N and late Benazir party PPP and placing Musharraf’s party PML-Q at the lowest ebb. It is justified to say that if PML-Q gets majority then the results would be highly questionable. Anyway, in any case all parties should show prudence and wait for the results and try to sort out issues in a peaceful manner.
