Pakistan achieves yet another milestone - The Lahore Chapter
By Farrukh Ahmed • Mar 3rd, 2009 • Category: Politics • 4 CommentsDon’t mind my sarcastic title on the post, but honestly that’s what we’ve come to as a nation.
With the breaking news starting off the day on yet another sad note about the attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team in Lahore, we’ve shown the world once again that we deserve to be called a Terrorist State.
Every time there is an incident, we start to blame the Taliban or Al-Qaeda or USA for it, and at the same time, suddenly every one seems to become Mr. know-it-all and starts to point fingers on Pakistanis to kick start a revolution.
Right now, twitter is filled with messages about the attack, prayers, precautionary notes and even frustrations about the entire saga: “We need to get up and speak up about it”; “Enough is enough!”; “There’s got to be an end to it.”; “The government should take strict security measures”; “how can Lahore be so unsafe?” etc etc……
Well, I ask a simple question to all my readers: “When have the Pakistanis actually gotten up and done anything about any issue that face us?” We want to be a part of every drawing room discussion on politics and world economy and sentence death penalties to almost any one who’s ever been in power. We all think we know Zardari, Nawaz Sharif or Musharraf too well to hang them if we could. We believe it is our ‘civil right’ to be a part of any protest group, as long as its all talk and no sweat!
I am sure that all there’s gonna be at the end of this attack is some press conferences, some condolence messages; all dead and gone ministers are going to wake up to express their concern over the Sri Lankan team….and the entire nation blaming each other for the attack!
Our ‘blessed democratic’ government is going to present a lipstick clad, twisted faced ‘minister’ condemning the attack, maybe blaming India or Taliban for it, and assuring that justice shall be brought unto those involved!
On the Pakistani’s front, we will continue to be the guinea s of our social infrastructure and will hardly ever get out of the daily rut of making ends meet and lining up outside utility stores.
We will never have the guts to stand up and actually do something about all this around us because our ego is too big to stop at red lights, we can’t compromise with watching 1 TV set at home instead of 5 in 5 different rooms, we can’t bother to get on and off a bus only at a bus stop even if it means walking extra for 2 minutes….blah blah!
The story remains the same, the gates are wide open with a signboard saying “aa bael (bull) mujhay maar”
Peace and Apologies to the Sri Lankan team. Hope you make it back home safe and be sensible not to risk it again….

What goes around, comes around !
As you sow, so shall you reap !
I am really very sorry my friend
These are most probably the bastard filthy Alqaeda/Taliban Terrorists who want to destroy our way of living. They want to destroy our Mosques, Schools, Colleges, our Sports and everything. They shouldn’t be tolerated at all. Whatever the US is doing through drone attacks is absolutely correct. If we do not clean our own house, others will have to clean it. And we must also fix those who sympathise with these terrorists, such as elements of Jamat-e-Islami
Our goverment committed a great blunder by signing a truce with the terrorists in Swat. There is only one way to deal with these terrorist and that is Full Force
Meanwhile our liberal democratic parties like PPP, PML-N, PML-Q should also forget their differences and should do all they can to defend democracy and our way of life against these dark and evil forces of extremism and terrorism. We can never surrender our country to millitants, extremists or their sympathizers!
You are a very very angry man
Farrukh,
Good article, but is it going to do anything for the Pakistani’s as they are happy the way they are and are happy to talk of every damn thing on political scenario of the country rather than doing anything about it.
They just want to talk about it, you are right about that.
Taliban is knocking on the doors and they are still not ready to listen and understand the problem.
And regarding blaming it on India it has already been done.
