North Waziristan Operation
By Ali Yar Khan • May 11th, 2010 • Category: Politics • 18 CommentsFaisal Shahzad’s failed terror attempt has provided a formidable niche to the United States to force Pakistan to start the long pending North Waziristan operation. The Pakistani forces have carried out operation in Swat and almost every agency of the tribal regions and has so far confined to carry out targeted and limited activities in the North Waziristan agency.
US authorities are claiming that after operations in other agencies and mounting pressure upon the Afghan Taliban, the North Waziristan agency has become sanctuary of the Pakistani Taliban terrorists. US has been hitting the area with their drone attacks, mostly killing the civilians in the predator attacks and then there are blackwater mercenaries active in the area, but they are wholly dependent upon the Pakistani forces for any success, who understand the ground realities better than anyone else.
Hillary Clinton has already threatened the Pakistani to do more and also that if any such attack failed or successful one happens again than it would yield severe consequences for the Pakistanis. That speaks volume about what US means now. They have put aside the diplomatic delicacies and now ready to strike within the Pakistan with full and open if the North Waziristan operation doesn’t get started by the Pakistanis themselves.
Very tough times for the Pakistan, just because a mad man belonged to Pakistan. Besides of that the truth is that we need to get rid of these terrorists once and for all from our soil.

“Very tough times for the Pakistan, just because a mad man belonged to Pakistan. ”
Not one mad person, the whole nation is mad.
Umair that includes you too I believe.
There should be no operation in N. Waziristan. Violence just doesnt work out.
Natasha, no it doesn’t..and you are too crude. Come up with something smart.
When have you resolved problems by hitting someone or killing his families. USA should get out of Afghanistan problem would automatically be resolved. The tribals, taliban, Al-Qaeda etc all right now have a objective and that objective is to get rid of white army. Once that army is gone to there home land, iam sure the objective to kill them would be gone with them. There wont be anymore problems when there are is no more fighting in the name of getting rid of White army.
Pakistan will continue its offensive against the mad headed Taliban; this is our own war and we must fight until this problem is over.
Terrorism must be finished from the country. There are safe havens of terrorist in this area and the operation will be carried out. I can see it coming.
the terrorism from this area must be killed so that the production of ‘faisalz’ should be seized immediately. It is important for us to once and for all wipe out the terrorists.
For terrorism to be wiped out, Pakistani Army and its corps commanders under leadership of General Musharaff signed a deal with emirate of North Wazirstan in Sept 2006 has to be cancelled first.
Smartness and madness dont go together, foreigner!
Is there any someone at this forum who bets me — “ON SUCH PARTICULAR DAY when Pakistan Armed Forces would realize this WAR Against TERROR is not a war of PAKISTAN — All internal & external Problems shall be vanished as those were not even existing.”

The acts of Faisal Shahzad are not only condemnable but shameful for the whole nation. On one side USA is trying to support Pakistan fiscally and logistically to curb the growing menace of terrorism and on one side people like Faisal try to kill people there. I believe this was yet another move by the enemies to sabotage the Pak-US alliance.
Pak army is currently engaged in South Waziristan against the militants. I believe they will definitely clear North Waziristan after this. Rather than speculating what will be done in future, we need to look at what is being done today and appreciate the fight put up by our brave Pak army.
Militants are now consistently ambushing Army convoys, therefore it is important that our men are well-equipped and skilled for such assaults, as the major operation has ended and now we left with are smoking out militants out of their holes. The process of clearing FATA will be long and troublesome task and we have to keep our morals high as insurgencies are more of physiological battle, the process of development will address the missing link in this war against extremism.
wana friendship me plz
@natasha. So violence doesn’t work out with the Taliban? Does negotiation do? If you see in the past one knows that dialog isn’t meant for the terrorist. We will have to defeat them and kill them all!
I would not agree with many comments above as I say again and again. That we will have to take initiative and eradicate militancy from our country. Army is in progress of doing this and we must support it.
The pressure is mounting and perhaps it is for good, because if there are any terrorists hiding in NW then they will soon have to surrender or get killed.
I think Army will have to conduct operation in North Waziristan under Us pressure while in reaction pakistan in particuler Pashtunkhwa may face another chain of blasts and sucide attacks
