North Korean Nukes and World Response
By Farid Masood • Jun 22nd, 2009 • Category: Politics • No ResponsesIt was fall 1998, when North Korea tested a three stage missile, last stage of that crossed over Japan. Japan in response raised her concerns and US troops present in Japan might had told the authorities that ‘Don’t worry we are here to protect Japan.
Japanese the first ever nation till now which faced nuclear disasters in two cities during World Was II (in 1945). North Korea having borders with Southern portion of Korea is arch rival of her and Japan. But the capability North Korea is achieving in missile technology is alarming for United States. After five countries of nuclear club she would be a country having intercontinental missile technology sooner of later.
Due to this fact, United States is dealing with North Korea in shape of ‘Oil for stopping nuclear / missile technology’. But deal between the two remained problematic during the pact period.
On May 24, 2009, North Korea tested nuke having greater power than the older tests. It’s a thumb rule when any country gets some technology she doesn’t want other to acquire until next version is developed and tested. Therefore, United States doesn’t want more than five major countries possessing nukes. India, Pakistan, North Korea, Iran & Iraq were prospect nuclear countries two decades ago. In 1998, India carried out second test after 1974 forcing Pakistan to show her power. North Korea is eighth country possessing nuke, Iran would be ninth and Iraq destroyed based on lies having weapons of mass destruction (WsMD).
Can we forget Israel here who also had more than 200 nukes (may be initially supplied by United States) some years back now this figure may be much higher. Time has come for the world to think for a nuke free earth. If United States objects on North Korea holding tests of nuclear devices and much worried about Pakistani ones she must also think about her nuclear arsenals as their safety is also at stack due to financial meltdown forcing many multi-billion dollar firms to face closure.
Every nuclear country must step ahead and destroy nuclear arsenals including veto power holders. United State being economic leader must create an example to make this world a better place to live. This is how people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki may be compensated a bit after fifty-four years.
