Nokia X6

X6 is Nokia’s 5th proper Touch-Screen Phone. The slim, stylish and feature packed phone is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of this year. X6 has created a buzz of enthusiasm as well as speculation in the ranks of reviewers and tech-lovers. X6 has dimensions of 111 x 51 x 13.8 mm and weighs 122 grams which is quite understandable when looking at its packed specs-sheet. Its 3.2 inches, 360 x 640 pixels TFT capacitive screen boasts 16M colors which promises an good display quality.

Like most Nokia smart phones, the Nokia X6 will get the full range of Ovi services, including the new Ovi Store, Ovi Maps 3.0 and Nokia Music Store. In some countries, Nokia X6 will be sold with the “Comes with Music” option, though Nokia recently announced that it’ll delay the launch of Nokia Music Store until 2010 in the United States. Beyond Ovi, the Nokia X6 will offer Push Email, Nokia Email, SMS and MMS messaging.

X6 has, like its predecessors, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, Handwriting recognition and a Scratch-resistant glass surface which shows Nokia’s commitment to make its new devices elegant as well as rugged.

Nokia has fulfilled the promise that X6 will be a music phone. X6 will come with a 3.5mm audio jack and Nokia Stereo Headset (WH-500) and a music leaflet. The seemingly endless internal memory of 32 GB also adds to the fact that you can have all your favorite music wherever you want, whenever you want.

Nokia X6 has it all as far as data connectivity is concerned, GPRS, HSCSD, Edge, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and MicroUsb. It boasts a 5 MP, 2592×1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus camera with Dual LED flash and Video output of 30fps, the camera quality of most of the Express Music Phones have not been up to the standard set by NSeries devices, so it remains top be seen whether this camera stands up with Nseries devices or is once again a let-down. A photo editor is a welcome edition, which will allow the users to tweak their photos before publishing them on net directly from the phone.

X6 has a built in GPS receiver with Ovi maps 3.0, a new feature og Geo Tagging has also been added which was previously missing in many smart phones. The Symbian OS v9.4 is powered by ARM 11 434 MHz processor with 128 Mb of RAM. A stereo FM radio with RDS is also included as expected. The phone has Java MIDP 2.0 and FlashLite 3.0 support. Nokia has vowed to improve auto-rotate sensor games. You will find Spore, D Mix Tour, Asphalt pre-loaded in the phone, other games can be downloaded via internet.

The X6 also has WMV/RV/MP4/3GP video player, MP3/WMA/WAV/RA/AAC/M4A music player, TV-out, Voice command/dial, Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and T9.

A stand by time of up to 420 hours, up to Up to 8 h 30 min of talk time and 35 hours of music play is promised by Nokia. The only let down which is once again hard to believe is that there is no out of the box Document Editor and there is no Xvid support.

  1. I am due for an upgrade and I am excited to upgrade to the Nokia X6.

  2. Seems like a viable choice!

  3. I still cant understand the real advantages of such high technology that has no creative and productive affects on humans and its behaviour.
it annoys me lot when I see young students are giving too much valued time to such devices.
It becomes irritating that young mothers are neglecting their babies and pass their time with such high tech device and enjoying time with friends by neglecting their real responsibilities,,
It is against mannerism when people sitting in discussion start using such devices that keep them away from the problems of people sitting/living actually near to them.
So I think such devices increase solitude of individuals, ill manner attitude, dependency and addiction of technology without any purpose and keep people away from real passions and closeness of human living around them,

  4. I am happy with my Nokia 3310.

  6. @ Nazia: You are right, you observation applies to all high tech devices. But this has happened in all generations. e.g. students in Japan used to bunk their classes in the 80s and 90s to play video games. This is the responsibility of parents to teach their children that someone sitting in front of you is more important than someone who has just forwarded a message to his entire contact lost.

@ Maria: I think ud rather keep it safe and take care as it will become an antique in a year or two :)

Parents cant control teens all the time as this technology has tremendous attractions for young guys.I have seen many success full businessmen and higher executives to avoid such technology as it is not requirement of all professions..but no doubt our generation of students and free wives and daugters of upper class use it as status symbol and promote this culture in other classes of societies.
People and society should encourage human attractions and short time social works instead of wasting hours and hours on this technology.
Keeping high tech phone is serious life threat in Pakistan and as per mobilink data in 2004 in each day almost two young men were killed in Karachi while snatching.
so I also keep the most simple form of mobile with me so that any lost on gun point is not worth to us and one time my robbers left my old model without giving any importance to it.

  8. @ Nazia:

Im not disagreeing with you. But dont you think its the primary responsibility of parents to control their children?

Successful businessmen are grown up individuals in most cases, but the major users of high tech gadgets is youth - and who finance them to buy these gadgets? Their parents! They are so busy in their chores that they damn care (or dont have time to care) what their children are doing? This topic can be used as basis for another blog! :)

How should “People and society should encourage human attractions and short time social works instead of wasting hours and hours on this technology.”

If keeping a good cell phone is a threat then Keeping a good car and wearing a good watch is also a threat, isnt it?

These gadgets have changed the way we live, the way we communicate and the way we think. eg I had a friend in 8th with whom I lost contact as my father was transferred for 2 times in same number of years, I tried to search his email id, but in vain. When I created my orkut account years after that, he found me the same day, and from that day Ive never lost contact with him!

So instead of cursing technology and leaving it aside we should be able to know how to blend it in our lives so that our social and physical life isnt effected.
