No end to load shedding in Pakistan – Dark Age Continues
By Sobia Raja • Aug 5th, 2012 • Category: Lead Story, Politics, Worth A Second Look • 8 CommentsElectricity shortfall, load shedding for hours, sleepless nights that results in frustration in day time, disturbance in prayers, industrial damages, we can say Pakistan is at the worst of load shedding, regarding this load shedding we are hearing many news like there will be no load shedding in the Holy month of Ramadan, but we all know well how much electricity is available to us, so in addition to these news one more is here, as information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira while his briefing to media on electricity short fall, said that load shedding in the country can never end even after the full utilization of all the available resources in the country, as shortfall is much larger than 2000MW. Is this true?? How this can be possible?? If govt. utilized all its resources not all those that govt. shows to public but instead those which are hidden then how this load shedding can’t be ended. For this purpose sincere efforts and deep insight is required. There were 12 projects that were initiated between 1996 and 2008 but PPP govt. stopped the funds allocation and created an artificial shortfall just to get money from projects like Rental power. Mega projects that were included Tarbela, mangla, ghazi Brotha can be completed in four years and PPP is going to complete five years, no planning, nothing for the sake of improvement just fake promises.
There are so many alternative resources that can be utilized in order to get electricity; why don’t we take it from china, from Iran, we have bulk of coal reserves as well if utilized well can be helpful for generating electricity. But again the thing is who cares, If Kaira is giving this statement then how Ahmed mukhtar claimed that there will be no load shedding in Holy month of Ramadan?? Look these are our leaders, who don’t have insight, just work on bases of assumptions, no one tries to highlight the reasons and then take action accordingly. But try to keep people happy with foolish talks.

Frustration is the most obvious impact of sleepless nights, but i just wanted to ask the Government, that why they are ignorant of the fact of what people are facing. not everyone can afford a generator and even if they can afford the noise is so horrible that one can not sleep. i came to know that noiseless generators have been introduced which is a good sign for people like us who can not bear the noise.
