No Confusion Over Judges Issue
By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Aug 22nd, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • No ResponsesAsif Ali Zardari, the co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party has thrown once again cold waters on the celebrations in the wake of Pervez Musharraf’s resignation by not restoring the judges immediately and now it is learnt that he is asking for more time in that regard from the coalition partner PML-N, which is ill at ease over the delaying shenanigans of the Zardari and his close acolytes.
Zardari’s sole fear is the potential judicial activism, and ironically that is the same fear felt by the former dictator and that was the fear which ultimately became the raison d’être of the downfall of Musharraf. National Reconciliation Ordinance is the worst thing happened in the constitutional history of Pakistan ever, which has dry cleaned Zardari off his all charges in a go magically and Zardari fears that if Musharraf is tried or if the Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary is restored, his NRO couldn’t stand a day in the light of justice. “It leaves no confusion.”
The mandate given by Pakistanis on 18th February also left no shard of confusion and Pakistanis are also not at all confused over the delaying tactics of Zardari who is against Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary just to secure his NRO. He cannot afford the free judiciary for the life of him because he has to carry on the mission of Musharraf, which is not possible in the presence of free judiciary.
There simply is no confusion. a
