Mizoram is inhabited by Mizos who, historically, followed an animist religion before Welsh Christian Missionaries entered the region in 1894. There was and never have been Hindus in numbers worth mentioning in the state. Manipur, even before the British conquest, was a kingdom that had largely followed Hinduism. Even today, the state is mainly Hindu except for certain hill tribes that are not ethnically the same as the dominant Meiteis.
