Myanmar : Internet Services Blocked and Death Toll rises

By The Pakistani Spectator • Sep 28th, 2007 • Category: Uncategorized • One Response

I just received a phone call from Yangon, Myanmar from a friend, who is actively participlating in protests against the military governments. He informed me that Internet services have been blocked in whole of Myanmar, and start army is blindly shooting anything moving in the streets.

He said to me that though media is able to identify just 8 to 10 deaths, the death toll is much much higher and goes into hundreds. Target killings, extra-judicial killings and tortures are being done on a very large scale. He said that though utility services are becoming rare, and things are moving in a very alarming state, people of Myanmar have risen to the occassion, and they are now committed their lives to restore the fundamental rights and a true democracy.

We in Pakistan and in rest of the world are with the people of Myanmar in this noble struggle of theirs.

  1. It means the revolution has started and the poor will be killed. In that country people should think whether they need democracy or not. Just fighting for democracy by getting instigated is not good. Some people for their power lust put poor before the guns being the flag holders of democracy. Then they will become rullers forever. One goes the other comes.

Any system ensuring basic humnan rights is better than any democracy.
