Musharraf’s Decoy Cannot Hide Government Failures
By Maria Sultan • Aug 2nd, 2009 • Category: Politics • 6 CommentsWell Musharraf has gone and gone for good. Whenever the dictators get lost, it should be celebrated but not just to welcome them back. Musharraf is history now and should be left to the judiciary to take care of. Much water has passed under the bridges since he left and much time has passed since this government has taken charge and has the whole lot of power without any serious opposition.
What are the achievements? Zilch. The prolonged and muderous power cuts have put billions of people in Pakistan in a very angry mood. Flashes of violent protests across Pakistan are just a tip of the iceberg. Joblessness and insecurity are two other monsters, which government seems incapable and unable to control. Which front they have conquered? They promise a lot, but deliver nothing.
Hanging or Letting go of Musharraf is not going to bring light, job and business to our homes. We do want to see Musharraf standing in front of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry fighting his case, but that’s it. We actually want peace, progress and prosperity. We want education, healthcare, power, water and jobs. Nation is no longer pre-occupied with the Musharraf. They are now frantic for getting basic utilities of life, which this government has failed to provide and the alarming thing is that there is no hope.
We want to live for the future, and not for the past and certainly not for the current times. We want and deserve better.

Musharaff Or no Musharaff, This corrupt bunch of Thugs are not going to deliver ANY thing to people.Where one minister is costing Rs.100000.00/day to nations debt. So The Illitrate Nation Tribes needs to stand up for there basic rights and demand on the street of Islamabad otherwise another dictator will be comming soon to take care of the tribes and west. What are the priorities of this Bhutto/Zardari Govt? Who is comming and Investing in Power sector? Independence of Judiciary will not feed the nation and will not give any Employment to youth, so where is the democratic govt? Now they are planning to Abolish basic grass root democratic processes of District govt’s? Where are we going and what will be the end game?
i think its failure of Pm yousuf gillani who dont take himself as PM.
Good point! You are absolutely right I wish that you had not spared anyone of this ‘tribe’ of oppressors & exploiters irrespective of whether in government or outside. We must warn them, one and all that they can misrule us and subjugate us to a limit; their rule over us can last only as long as they don’t take everything away from us - however once they rob us of everything they cease to have power over us — we will be free! - they & us are reaching that threshhold very fast.
If they’d let Musharraf go, they would have been unconstitutional, bribed, uncaring. Now that they are acting against his dictatorship and what it signified, they’re using a decoy. Are you EVER happy, or EVER appreciative of the government’s efforts and labor in a time of terrorism, energy crisis, economical disaster, international political and internal social instability? Seems like they could bring the angels down from the heavens and the whining critics from this country would not be pleased.
No, no. Don’t bring any angels from heavens, please, just send all these looters & exploiters to where the angels live, let all these overfed, self-satisfied gangsters lead their gangs out of our space.
Aftab Sahab,
Democracy is a process and it takes time for it to deliver and eventually, the bad eggs get expelled; the precipitates settle down. Now that democratic system has been revived, it must flourish for good.
May be, we won’t be lucky enough to reap the fruits of democracy in our lifetime, but if if allowed to flourish without any interruption, the future generations will hopefully reap the benefits of a secular liberal democratic system.
I hope you agree with me Sir!!
Remember: The Worst Democracy is Better than the Best Dictatorship!
