Murder of Gulgee
By The Pakistani Spectator • Dec 19th, 2007 • Category: Uncategorized • 18 CommentsCan you believe it? His paintings were full of life. His paintings where a masterpiece which were vivid and full of bonanza, which were put on with greater sensitivity and paintings resonate with intense and sharp feelings. Portions of the canvas sing with luminous lively color, thick blobs of paint pulsate with fiber-glass tears, the brush swirls strong and free. That was our Gulgee.
He, his wife and a maid were murdered brutually at their home. Their dead bodies were three days old, when found, and thier death cause was strangulation. Who could do such a henious act? Its the death of art, and this gruesome incident has added more gloom to the already dismal national horizon.

thats gotta hurt like freakin hell…do we have any details on what happened?
R.I.P Guljee ! A revolutionist is lost !
Hmm… I don’t really understand what motive anyone would have to commit such an atrocity. We lost a gem…
I feel sad.
The passion by which he talked about his subject on talk shows was enough to show his dedication.
It’s so pitiful a news.
Really!!!
this is truly pathetic… and reminiscent of how we treat all our national hero’s
R.I.P Maestro
I was really hurt to hear this as my friend Naseer Mughal just got a Ufone flash news SMS on his cell phone. And he informed me about this. I have always been thinking about blogging about him. And its so sad, I had to write his murder news on my blog! Are our authorities sleeping! Its what happens to the greatest and influential people in Pakistan, I fear what can happen to the rest of the people !
dis is so damn shocking..where is our nation heading towards..?can anybody answer people like gul gee are murdered shameful for iur nation i am really hurt and dont have words.
who the hell cud do such a thing..probably a jealous son of a *****.i mean along with being a perfect artist and a national hero he was a really humble and a nice man..i wont believe it even if the whole world tells me that he did any harm to anybody…now i know this nation sucks and how it treats those who have done so much for them…
ALIM KI MAUT AALUM KI MAUT HAY
Guljee’s death leaves a great void of pain , sorrow, lament , in one’s mind .From his name people used to relate Pakistan , he was the first man ever in the world to produce calligraphy in Action Painting, Abstract expressionism
i bet people wont even realize what it is like to do something as big as Guljee has done , His contribution to the Abstract expressionism is something we will never get able to put in words ,he was a scientist of colours , a collector of beatifull Lapis , from which he used to creat beautifull portraits and life like panintings ,he was down to earth soul who did nt even show what he actually were capable of doing , its just so sad , im all speechless .
I wish this would nt have happend like so many things i reluctantly accept for this year .
we have lost a leader in the history of Pakistani Visual arts
I am not sure and I am not trying to smear anyone, but some months ago it was reported in the papers that Gulgee refused to do a portrait of Altaf bhai and was told to get ready for some severe consequences.
May be……
A train accident in Mehrabpur, then this news of Gulgee
what a bad day.
I also heard about the threats from MQM and they could have done it, and if that is the case, the culprit would be compaigning for his election somewhere in khi. May be he got his ticket after accomplishing this feat.
It is truly sad. We have lost a great person. why did no one find the bodies for 3 days?
This is a crime not just against Gulgee but against art,art lovers, the people of Pakistan and humanity.
Two years ago- or was it three? - Gulgee was on his deathbed but God gave him a second lease on life. And this is what we have allowed to happen. I wish he had passed away then, and been spared this torture and our country had been spared the shame of murdering an artist of his calibre
Very Sad, Gulgee was a legend and asset to the Pakistani nation. May Allah forgive his sins and make him among the blessed. Ameen
Very Sad, He was surely a legend and asset to the Pakistani Nation. May Allah rest his soul in peace, forgive his sins and make him among the blessed. Ameen
An unfortunate reality but i am pretty sure that our laidback so called Cops wont do anything about it. Gulgee was a charismatic artist, a very popular figure around the globe. His contributions towards calligraphy are magnanimous. May Allah rest his soul in peace. It is a sad moment for those who love and admire Gulgee’s work
There is no more news about the investigations or anything else about him it takes so little time to forget someone like him. That is sad!
