MQM, PML-N Friendship is on the Cards
By Maria Sultan • Sep 1st, 2010 • Category: Politics • One ResponsePolitics is a strange animal. You see that when MQM chief Altaf Hussain invited the patriot general to topple the government and to stage a coup, the incumbent PPP remained silent in a shock, whereas the real monster with flames sprouting nose was the opposition party, Muslim League of Nawaz Sharif.
After weeks of verbal fire, now the things seems to be cooled down. This is all a staged drama. PML-N has decided to not to give PPP anymore room, and they are going for a inhouse change, and as usual the first to leave the government benches are the MQM. MQM is a government party and have always remained in the treasury, no matter what, and no matter who, and no matter how.
The broken nexus between PML-N and MQM is about to be rectified again. The PML-N and the MQM have been coalition partners in both terms of Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister. MQM enjoyed lots of power in Karachi at that time. However, the relations between the two parties touched all time low when in an APC called by Nawaz Sharif in London in 2007, a resolution was passed against the MQM for its alleged involvement in 12 May, 2007 massacre.
Though in that APC, PPP was also the signatory, they mend their ways with the MQM, but stubborn Nawaz Sharif never bowed, but now he has realized the ground realities and ready to play dirty. Change is the in offing. After MQM, Fazlur Rehman would defect and then ANP, and then it would be curtains for PPP.

It is very unfortunate that Altaf Hussain continues to meddle in the
country’s politics from London. I ask Altaf Hussain to criticise the
country where he is living right now, not us. Or else, if he is brave
enough, he can come to Karachi and then start issuing such statements
in which he had said that he would not be deterred by the threat of
cases under Article 6 of the constitution. I agree with you that
betterment in the system is needed, but it should not be brought
through a military general. No Mr Altaf Hussain, you are wrong. Your
recipe to cleanse the Augean stables is flawed, unconstitutional and
simply shocking. Your outburst negates the established principles of
rule of law that is mandatory for justice and fair play in any society
and for which we have been struggling since March 9, 2007. You have
not only unmistakably invited ML but proposed dictatorial rule of one
man that would be disastrous for my Pakistan.
