MQM : A Political Reality or A Terrorist Outfit
By Sameer Shaharyar • Apr 16th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 15 CommentsAfter the power-sharing formula has been foiled by the appointment of Shoaib Suddle as I.G of Singh, the MQM and PPP have parted ways and now MQM would play the part of opposition in Sindh and National Assembly, and this is good for the democracy, as MQM would be a formidable and active opposition which is badly needed in this scheme of things, where PPP is not understanding the mandate of the nation.
MQM is a political reality in Sindh and especially in Karachi and has shared the power with PPP and PML-N two times in the center and at the provincial level and has delivered a good contribution, but the bond of MQM with other mainstream parties never flourished. Both PPP and PML-N primarily consider MQM a city-outfit with inclination towards subjugation and terrorism, and they have been using it as a tool to control Karachi.
In the 80s and 90s MQM has suffered a lot and has inflicted a lot. Lots of blood have been spilled in the streets of Karachi in that era. When Pakistan came into being, it was the Muslim immigrants from India who came here empty handed leaving their everything behind and in the way they were murdered, looted and raped by the Hindus and Sikhs. It was these people who actually sacrificed for Pakistan, and it was actually these people who have larger contribution in the formation of this country.
When these immigrants came here, they mostly settled in the Karachi city, but they were not given due regard and share in the scheme of the things and they found themselves financially deprived. They knew the price of freedom, so they suffered in silence. But how far? After 40 years, they started a peaceful struggle to have their rights. This movement was hijacked by the agencies and people like Altaf Hussain and others cajoled the Urdu speaking section of society and then everything was politicized bloodily and the city of lights was turned into city of darkness.
MQM still is full with decent, affectionate, learned, mature, sagacious and esteemed leaders and workers. It’s workers love Pakistan and majority of it’s leaders adore Pakistan. They are fed up of the terrorism-allegations and they are fed up of the violence and riots. They know that they are a force in Karachi and they want to use this force for the betterment of this heart city of Pakistan. They want to extend their utilities to the rest of the Pakistan. They want to get rid of blackmailers and drama-oriented clowns, who believe in bullets.

dear shehryar,its nice that people with such thinking capacities of real ground facts are still perishing like your soul.its also very impressive that your assessment regarding what you have stated is closer to the groundrealities and factual available docus .you see ,this is the main thrust of subject that should always be floated and disseminated by any writer who reserves himself as columnist and in my opinionhe is the person responsibly carrying out his duties in a real manner and sence of legimtimate citizen ship. i really appreciate that you took the sensitive topic in full legitimate ,constrained ,effected,and descent manner ,thus taking yourself in to a conclusive stay that ,as per your last para,MQM is still full of affectionate ,descent ,esteemed ,learned,and mature leaders and workers .in my opinion this is the justification and conclusive element of existence of this political force .however at this point i would like to add that in addition to the leaders and workers ,there are fleets of silent supporters and motivators ,who are although impartial but remains the the threat and nuisance of organisation in the form of experts and professionals on literary ,social and intellectual grounds .these are the people who are the main backbone and thrust bearer of all such events that cause impactful curse ,in any period and era of regime in the form and shape of operations,and activities that deliberately affect the profile and power of the organisation ,by extrajudicial,and unconstitutional breaches and desire.here i would like to regard all such technocrats like Mr KM nadeem (late) ,Mr hassan imam rizvi ,and many .you see its almost 60 years of existence .people who fled and settlled here in pakistan are almost at 3rd generation.after such a drastic victimisation during birth of pakistan had shattered the element of self resilence and stand.there are only two fate for any such threatful occurence.one is that person gets strucked in same attitude and manner of ,criminal retaliation and other is that he becomes pious and demotivated to the extent that he once again starts a new buid up so to over come what has been destined .pakistan being new state and our fore father being newcommer has to start from scratch so to bring and upgrade their generation from ground .but continous negligence on the part of establishment and elements that has always unacceptibly accepted the arrival was the point of maximum irrelevant manipulation and critisism on the platform of victimisation.you see what happens when you get your origin at a place where you are continously being tortured or humiliated and considered as disowned element .its natural that a times comes when people are annoyed with the system and design and they react .reaction can be in a mannerable formatand criminal format .there is no third strategy .assess the things and manners on this ground of reality .how many time a community can be maltreated on grounds and reasons of disown ,qouta ,speech ,employment ,degradation ,financial nuisance .etc.this is the point that has reacted in the form and format of MQM.so to disassembl any such retaliating foce or thrust that can malhandle and exploit the existence .you see you are right that there are people that are groomed enough to recall and abstain all such elements of agitation but the point here is its the same factor of annoyance that has gained entry in to every single indivisual of said generation that has suffered in any form and shape of modes like unemployment ,victimisation and degradation.these are the elemnt that is the root cause of MQM.you see ,PPP has again plaanned to engage these office holders by same motive and theme of previous dictators and all time manipulators and enemy of brotherhood .their body move is clearly indicative of their thinking.they have again stated and planned to win what istheir all time habit and leisure .i am not a office bearer of MQM or any poitical force ,being a retired army ofr and surgeon and getting the roots from the family that had inadvertantly supported all tese respected leaders from mr altaf hussain ,to asif zardari and shaheed miohtarma as my father was the only lawyer of these respected personality dealiing the rivals from single platform ,i consider that ,realisation to be imparted on the issue as it will excessively hinders the profile and fate of democracy and nation .may god bring all natives of every cadre ,language and province of this nation as rbetter than real brother .please take care of people around
In last my appeal to Administrator: Please add links of few technology based blogs to this site. We are concentrating on only one thing i.e. Politics and then such politics which is creating bigger difference between readers. We all are one and want to remain one. Biased posts are again tilting us to start wrong discussions. How many of us knows technology and related things. I have seens that Indians always discusses I.T and Telecom in their discussions but we discusses only one thing and then we all gets dirty. Leaders are on same position since first day but our friends (common man) lost their lives on roads and in police stations. They forgive each other for mutual benefits but we fires each other on thier names.
Please do post on technology so we can proceed accordingly. Please allocate quota for each area on ur website. How many of us knows WiMAX, WiFi, 4G, Open source softwares, google upcoming projects, new handsets and technologies, Intel new innovations. I want to discuss these things. I will add my knowledge in it also.

They were not immigrants (as per your stated language) but the owners of the newly formed motherland. You wont get this country freed from Hindus and british empire without the sacrifices of the forefathers of these immigrants (TUFF Hey tum per!!).
I am a punjabi myself but our stupid freinds/brothers hd started problems first when they started calling them ‘Mohajirs’ and now they themselves called mohajir but now everybody gets irritation.
Think and Think (all my freinds) if they could get a country fighting two enemies they can get another one fighting just one enemy.
You must accept MQM as a reality and be responsible in writing dubious and articulated articles and using bad name for themselves.
I think, they are better Pakistanis than ‘Punjabi’ who wanted to come to Lahore in Indian tank, a ‘Sindhi’ who wanted India to attack Pakistan to give Musharraf punishment, a ‘Pathan’ who wanted to bury in Afghanistan and was against the formation of Pakistan and a ‘Baloch’ who said during 1971 war we were waiting with garlands for Indian army wishing them to enter Baluchistan
I request everyone don’t try to open a Pandora box you all living in Glass House and don’t try to corner MQM for any reason it would only be good for our common enemy.
There are certain mis-perceptions (lies) being spread around this place, and much like dung, they are beginning to smell-up the joint.

The partition of Punjab was decided at the last hour and people were given hours’ notice to move out or face genocide. It was the bloody and mutilated bodies of Punjabis that were contained in the trains arriving from Amritsar to Lahore. Urdu speakers had been quietly sneaking across the border for days and most left behind their relatives, who are still taking care of their ‘havelis’ and ‘jaidaad’.
The newly formed Pakistan needed educated people to run this country and since Punjabis and Pathans traditionally were employed with Agriculture, the Urdu-Speakers captured the bureacracy and are running it from day one. Just walk into any Govt. office and they are the picture of inefficiency and corruption, which has dogged this country’s future.
So much for their ’sacrifices’.

MQM was started by the intelligence outfits, at the behest of General Zia. He wanted a counter-weight against the PPP in Sindh, whose popular leader he had just hanged. The Rangers and the military armed the psychopaths of Karachi and let them loose on the City Of Lights. Their first act, was to go and cut the throats of 35 Pathans, while they were sleeping in their beds. I still remember the bold headlines across the front page of Jang.
Before MQM, I had several “Urdu-Speaking” friends, but didn’t know it and couldn’t care less. After MQM, whenever the Urdu-Speaker felt slighted, he would chirp, “It’s because I am a Mahajar, isn’t it ?!”. You were born in Karachi, like the rest of us. How can you be a “Mahajar” ?, you moron.
Anybody with a chip on his shoulder, became a Mahajar, and Altaf (the army reject, cab-driver) became his blood-brother and together they went to work, to undo the partition of Pakistan. You can go to YouTube and watch your ‘quaid’ in his last visit to India, begging the hindus to take his people back, when the time comes. He thinks Pakistan was a bad idea and he would’ve voted against it. So much for patriotism from the MQM.
MQM (not Urdu-Speakers), and the perverse ideology they stand for, should be crushed out of existence, much like the HQ of Haqiqi, if Karachi is going to go back to being the melting-pot and City of Lights like we remember. Naseer-ullah Babar, Karachiites need you for an encore, good buddy. We can hold out for a couple of years, while you clean house.
Please, Please, There are Black sheeps in all tribes or Punjabis,Pathan’s,Baloch’s
and Sindhi’s (Including Urdu speaking). Look at the Zardari,Shariffs,Sarhadi Gandhi and the Wadaira’s of Baochistan. I believe MQM is not a Terrorist Outfit, but it was hijacked by some self cemtered people Like Altaf Hussain and company.
Did we not see the Goondas of PPPP Destroying private and public property after the Death of Bainazir. WHY. Did not the Sahriffs Divert a Plane full of Ordinary Passengers. WHY. But what a gracious and frogiving Nation We accept then as our leaders.. We are ready to suffer, so a few can enjoy.

Please mention there is an other political terrorist force called Pakistan Army. Who always attacked whole pakistan and Pakistanis. No one is terrorist except Army. They makes every terrorist to divide and rule. How you can skip bloody Musharraf. Just because you are his supporter. Why you people gets so biased. Why you starts hiding facts in your asses and promoting others minor faults like monsters. Every body knows who is terrorist. So stop your biased analysis.
I cant understand why urdu speaking are still called mohajirs? we have been living in this country for the past 60 years and people like me (both my parents were born and brought up in Pakistan and have never even been to India) do not deserve to be called mohajirs or outsiders in any way. we belon to this land just as much as every one else.
secondly, i dont seem to comprehend why every urdu speaking person is considered to be an activist of MQM? is it some sort of inherent attribute of all urdu speaking people?

Nice to know that facts can be hidden in private areas aswell. Pakistan Army is in 2 groups the officers and Jawans. The officers love to use them whenever they want. But the army is not totaly to be blamed.The political forces, i mean democratic, mostly got caught in their msichevious ways and the option was our friends the army.So be it. Well you cannot impose your thoughts on me and vice versa. So for me Musharaf as a person is a Goodman..Be tolerant of views of others aswell,that is the biggest shortage in Pakistan.Instead of being abusive, try to use your energies to some good use sir.
