Marg-e-Bar Taliban

By Haris Hashmi • Jul 20th, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 22 Comments

The targeted killing of Dr Sarfraz Hussain Naeemi in Lahore by a suicide bomber, a teenager, is yet another reminder of the grim reality that time has come when we have to draw a line between the terrorists and the Islamists. We must stop using terms like Extremists, Jehadis, militants for the Taliban. They are terrorists and that is what they must called and they must be dealt with as a terrorist.

There are no moderate religious elements in the Pakistan. Most of us are Muslims and as we are Muslims we are moderate by default. Whoever preaches or practices the suicide attacks, beheading, exhuming for torture, blowing up schools, and negating the writ of the state has nothing to do with the Islam or even Pakistan. Such evil elements are exploiting the name of the religion for their own power brokering. Just take the example of Fazlullah, who has also become a ‘Maulana’. He was just a chair lift operator in Swat. He hasn’t got any decent religious education and hasn’t got any deeper understanding of what Islam is. Now the man is the head honcho of Swat terrorists.

We have to defeat terrorists for our survival.  It is crystal clear now that our struggle for survival is to be waged on so many different fronts. We not only have to counter the propangda by the terrorists, we have also to help clear the confusion. We have to call spade a spade. We must keep an eye on our surroundings for the terrorists and their sympathisers. We need to draw and channelize strength from the increasing support in the masses against the terrorists.

Some days ago, on Friday night, when it was announced that an address to the nation by President Asif Ali Zardari will be aired at 10 pm, I though that President would be making some radical announcement for the nation regarding war on terror. The speech was delayed and delayed and we waited. Our curiosity and excitement aroused, but when it telecasted, it was like a farce you can only expect from our President. Khapay G Khapay.

  1. >>>>>>>>>>>The speech was delayed and delayed

some one from the inside told that AAZ was drunk at that time of the original time of speech, so they had to wait for the president to have some consiousness , and when he did , the speech had to be shortened , fearing that the president might not be able to keep himself steady for a long time

  2. Arias
here you are making mistake our both president, present and ex both are more conscious and active when they are in drink mode. When they cant drink it is more horrible for nation as they behave like sick man.So personal sectary of our president is always busy of giving them supply regularly to keep them calm and in smiley in front of public.

  3. nazia,
you never miss a chance to drag Pervez Musharraf on any issue. Stop using colored glasses and be fair with all. Give credit to the good jobs done and criticise the wrong doings. It is not so that one man is all Satan and the other all Angel.

  4. Nasir
so for you drinking is part of good jobs that our presidents regularly do in our houses.
You want to praise that man who himself didn’t pay the electricity bill of 5 lakh means he used 5000000 units of power and then fly away from the scene.
You want me to praise him by giving us 12 hrs load shedding
You want me to praise him by putting my life in the risks of suicidal bomber or give glorify reviews on destructive conditions of swat valley.
Please let me judge the people through my perceptions that is more based on ground realities than praising the naked king through flattery remarks.

  5. It’s a nice blog and discusses what is wrong with our English speaking elite.
A perfect analysis which depicts the reality.

  6. @Nasir M. Aijaz
Nazia is right. We pakistanis have got every right to point out someone who is more responsible for all the mess than anyone lese out there. What we have right now in the country is just because of Mush’s flawed policies and his Bush-Vision.
Was it just a coincidence that America had Bush and we had Mush?
By the way,why has he left pakistan?
Why did not he remain in pakistan as according to you he has doen something for Pakistan?

  7. nazia,

    For all to read:

    With due respect Aunt Nazia,
You mention the current ordeal of Karachi citizens and narrate their circumstances for purely politically motivated propaganda aimed at discrediting the MQM City District Government of Karachi. Its amazing that globe trotting elite like you, who often spend time in France, hammer comments on blogs while sitting in the luxury of their airconditioned drawing rooms, appear so concerned about people in distress. You don’t even know what poverty is Madam. Sitting in your luxurious Lahore villa, you comment on Karachi as if you are one of its oldest residents, who has spent her entire life there. Do you know that torrential rains can hit any city in the world, crippling its infrastructure? So then why blame the City District Government. I’ve lived in Lahore, attending the best College GCU, for two year studies and I know that whenever it rained, the Mall Road used to get fully flooded, in front of the old PU campus building, with water rising up to knees. WASA tankers had to come in to drain stagnant water using pumps. And there is a great deal of difference between Lahore and Karachi. Karachi received highest recorded rain, since 1977. Karachi is a coastal city and it is naturally prone to receiving greater rain. No government can prevent natural disasters. The best one can do is to restore the crippled infrstructure in the shortest possible period. This is exactly what CD Government under the able leadership of Mayor Syed Mustafa Kamal is doing. This hardworking MQM Mayor is spending day and night, personally monitoring the restoration work being carried out.

Please never undermine the facts, whenever you decide to issue tirades against your political opponents.

    Regards

What a justification you have created in your mind for such a mismanagement which whole world had seen through eyes of TV.
Your mayor was calling his 280000 wardens again and again through tv to come to their duties. Is that part of good training and handling crisis management.
Karachi whole system was collapsed on 70mm rain and it was recorded.
My close relatives was struck on karachi airport from 5 am to 11 am with small kids and we were not sitting idles or resting our home as our friends and family members were and still are highly in trouble.
I again repeat my technical point that you always ignored that Karachi is with sea and it is not 1977 era where one should accept negligence in all sides of KCDA.All rain drains were choked specially in the area of malir suburbs where poor people are living. You go and see there is no water pools in Gulstian johar.can you tell me exact reason of this and who actually made the design of its drainage .try to speak truth with yourself.
I again say how much torrential rain pour in KARACHI, If your drain system is ok water cane be drained with in few hours into huge sea.this is big advantage of city on sea but you people again diverted your mismanagement toward natural disasters.
He is surely hardworking in his field but without proper planning and good governance.
His weakness is now quite obvious in this first shock of nature.
Try to improve your self assessment skills.
Dont worry about lahore. When its time will come I will also give flaws on them too.Dont justify wrong planning in love of your party. This makes you bias ,irrational and vagarious too.
First see and then try to improve you serious deficiencies and then blame us .people are coming out in streets of Karachi for demanding justice and privileges which mqm has promised them to give.
Go and fulfill your promises without seeing your political opponents like me.

    (zardari kuta haye haye!)

same words I am hearing in my area for last one year and that is why I call my land as land of miracles. It is still miracle and we should put in account of US that that man is still on top seat who is facing maximum abusive street power in all matters. This senseless attitude is first time recorded in the long political profiles of PPP and surely looking the last tenures of PPP under feuds.
