Malik Shakeel Awan from NA-55 Rawalpindi from PML-N
By Haris Hashmi • Dec 26th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 144 CommentsIt seems that PML(N) once again wants to degrade the companion of former dictator Pervez Musharraf Sheikh Rashimd Ahmad by dishing ticket of PML(N) to a party worker from the grass root level instead of bringing out some frontline leader from somewhere else.
Malik Shakeel Awan hails from a very ordinary background but he has been a prominent face during the PML-N backed protests and rallies in that area and he has been with the party from the onset and is loyal to the party leadership which is all important at the end. He is the personal choice of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and he is poised to win this site from quite a margin.
One hopes that after winning Shakeel Awan won’t get indulged in some foolish mistake like his predecessor who was caught in a examination cheating scandal.

Malik Vs sheikh communities would come against each other in this raja bazar area. Both have strong links with their voters but no doubt malik would get full support from govt machinery under the supervision of sharif group.

I live in NA-55, and there is lots of disgust and hatred against Sheikh Rashid in this area and even a pole could win against him if the pole gets PML-N ticket. That is surely not to say that the people of this constituency are dumb, its just that they adore Nawaz Sharif.
Good to see party workers from grass root are picked for national assembly seats. Good approach. Salute to pml (n) leadership.
i live in Rawalpindi(NA-55). We always support Shaikh, But now, Shakeel Awan is better then Shaikh Rasheed Ahmad. Bcoz He work very well as a Nazim Union Councel (UC-46). Now, we pray for him not shaikh.

May be Mr. Awan is a die hard worker but still he is nephew of Babar Awan. PPP and PML-N are both the same. I think Mr. Jazi Khan, PTI candidate is in winning position and people are realizing that these two parties are taking this country to destruction due to their stands. Only Imran Khan can bring change and youngsters can play a big role. Lets see what people do now. They want change or want to be the part of same corrupt system.
i think this time Sheikh Rasheed turn in NA-55.
and he will be better for rawalpindi…
