Malik Riaz of Bahria Town : Honorary Field Marshal ???
By Muskan Hina • Jul 6th, 2009 • Category: Politics • No ResponsesOMG, Ayaz Amir, leading columnist of the country has really chewed the ass of the establishment in his recent column and no wonder if he gets a spanking in future for his words. He has, though, thrown a light where very dare to venture. He has talked at length about the commercialization spree of our high ranking military officials.
He has very truely and painfully pointed out the real estate mania of our high ranking officers in army, navy and airforce, the running of bakeries, stadiums and foodoutlets by the army. Ayaz Amir says:
If fighting the Taliban is to have any meaning, the military must return to its comparatively frugal and austere roots, reforming if not completely eschewing the real estate culture which is now the bane of senior ranks, generals, admirals and air marshals less symbols of martial valour than icons of the real estate trade. If the real estate mania is really beyond cure it may be an idea worth pursuing to make Malik Riaz of Bahria Town–Pakistan’s leading real estate enterprise with a bevy of retired senior ranks on its payroll–an honorary field marshal. That should serve everyone right.
Now that is something really pricky. Malik Riaz is no stranger for the powerhouses of the country. He has even been assigned some very strange roles in the past.
