LINKdotNET Sucks Big Time in Pakistan, its LINKdownNET
By Amna Gilani • Mar 5th, 2008 • Category: Misc • 18 CommentsI am not a telecom guru, and neither I am any IT expert. Far from it. I am a regular user of Internet, who has become a volley ball between different Internet Service Providers. From Micronet to Paknet to Comsats to WOL to PTCL to LDN, I have tasted all the flavours of Internet and they all suck and they all are worst then each other.
LINKdotNET is the new player in the market and it’s from ORASCOM Telecom, a company which also owns Mobilink, the largest mobile phone services provider in the country. I was using DANCOM internet services and LDN inherited me from there. DANCOM wasnt ideal, but it worked more and disruptions were less.
Now LDN has showered its blessing upon me. They have made my connection unlimited and are charging just 100 rupees more. But they are so bad, I want to tear apart their LDN, which for me now stands for LINKdownNET. From 24 hours it remains stable just for 3 or 4 hours and the rate of disconnection is high.
The support is pathetic, miserable and extremely disgusting. Support people are so unfriendly and it seems they are fedup of their lives and LINKdownNet is not paying them more than 1050 rupees. They dont pick phone for a long time, when they pick they take some time to introduce themselves, and then they bark at you for the purpose you have disturbed their slumber. Dont tell them that you don’t have connectivity, if you do so , do it at your own risk, they will really turn nasty. For example, mine said that it was due to the overcast conditions and I better enjoy weather rather than sulking for the connection.

I think u should give PTCL a chance . There service is far better than other;s . They will fix ur Phone line steadily no other company can do that . I have been using PTCL and impressed with the change made by the new administration.
Have your tried VPTCL ?
Ali is right, PTCL users (myself included) are much better off than Wateen/Link.net users so far - I have never had to call for support and have never faced any downtime either, can’t say the same for the people I know that use Wateen/LINK. I didn’t think a day would come when I would be praising PTCL, but here I am doing just that.
If you are living in Islamabad then there is nothing best than Micronet Broadband DSl company. They are best in customer services and technical support.
As far Wateen WiMAX is concerned, they are new and also using new technology. How you can expected excellent technical support when their staff even not knows properly what is WiMAX and how it works. No doubt, WiMAX is best for DSL and VoIP because it gives much faster speed than line DSL. but just get them specialized then you will find every body going for WiMAX of Wateen.
Get a virus scanner and get you PC scanned and cleaned. Get someone who knows computers to check out the problem. I am a LDN subscriber and I have not had a single complaint and the guys are really helpful too. I don’t know what you are talking about? Where do you live, Lalu khayt?
Its really terrible, thanks that you tell us, i was planning to subscribe..
I never knew that you can really get angry if you have to. But honestly after reading your post it seemed that you have interpreted my feelings as I am also LDN user inherited by via dancom. For the last few days I have been experiencing the same. Worst of all I could not get my emails due to change of configurations during the last two months which are struck up there in their system as no tech support available.
hmm , I’ve been using LDN for more than a week , no problems at all my downloads are around 400mb / hr , hello movies
I totally totally agree, have been using LDN for the past couple of months and they suck. No one in the company knows what to do, the connectivity sucks - basically it goes down for some time everyday and the borwsing from 6pm onwards is hell… on a 1mbps connection i can barely get 128kbps speed, and i understand that the bandwidth is shared but have never seen such low achieveable speeds as percentage of max speeds. But the real deal breaker is that most of the websites would simply time out and these include live.com, topgear.com etc etc to name a couple and these are like real mainstream websites. Been facing this issue ever since i started using LDN and its irrespective of the speed that i am getting at that time so its not a bandwidth issue. And the real funny thing is as soon as i put in a anon proxy every website opens up easily. So i have now been trying to make the LDN guys understand this for the past one month and to no luck. last week and i am shifting to PTCL or micronet.
This is Usman Khawaja from Sialkot-Pakistan and I am using broadband DSL connection – 1Mbps of Link Dot Net. I had a very poor experience of Link Dot Net’s DSL connection. Currently they are suffering by “recurrent internet disconnection and speed issues”. Now one month has passed but the issues still persist. So I will recommend everyone not to buy pain of using LinkDotNet.
Anyways, I have written a blog post where I have shared my thoughts about poor services by Link Dot Net.
Thanks for your attention.
Hi Dear All,
I am internet user and specially also checked mojirity services of different ISP’s specially PTCL DSL ,Wateen,Cyber and now LDN.i am very happy with LDN it’s services , speed ,even customer services are really nice i got my connection in 7 days.
As per my experianced for PTCL is really bad and same for wateen , there is nothing to higlight specially it’s commitments .
so really dislike PTCL and wateen.
at least LDn is providing what they commited
Try talking to the customer services people rationally and they won’t be rude to you.
I also inherited a LinkdotNet conection and safe to say I have hardly experienced any major problems with it. Sure, there is some disconection and slow speed at peak hours but that has been remedied and I enjoy speedy torrent downloads, drowsing and online gaming. For any downtime and emergencies, I buy WOL hours by sending an SMS to 965 on my mobilink connection and I get login information through return SMS istantly.
You might want to get your PC checked as well. Cheers!
I am using LDN 512 for 2 months, in Jan09 the net used to work fine in morning and after 6pm it would became reduced to quarter. But since Feb09 they have become worse. giving 4-8 kB/s download speed only. I have called cs many times but they say that they r upgrading, and sometimes they say that the exchange has problem.
I am fedup pay so much and get dialup speed. ALL FRIENDS GO TO PTA WEBSITE http://www.pta.gov.pk and go in the complaints section and choose ISP then LDN and write a complaint against them.
im using ptcl 1mb broadband for past 12 months im a unhappy user coz the speed of ptcl is not stable and also they dont have fiber-optics wire thats y some time it gave disconections and i recomend u all to use MICRONET broadband coz they got fiber-optics which means that there speed is the highest as u can get and there is no disconection or slow speed my all cuzans use micronet and i use it and i think micronet net is the best fastest and stable internet broadband/dsl in pakistanº
Wimax is so great, lots of bandwidth and new services too;,”
i always use free virus scanners on the internet coz they are quite good too–:
You are very right, i have worked in LDN for sometime. SOPs & Top Management are really bad. Emloyees are under paid & over loaded. Company is in a Loss. All good ppl have left the company. Mustafa Peracha (CEO) of LDN who came from Mobilink to save this sinking ship has also resigned & joined WiTribe. It is no different from our Govt. Everyone is more interested in Loot Maar. LDN is HiJacked by 4-5 ppl and they are the GOD Fathers. Everything on the name of rule, regulation, procedure, terms, conditions is dummy & fake. Its a total chaos. Everyone employee working there is extremely demotivated. Company already has closed operations in small cities and will be closing other POPs soon. It is better to switch services before you get to know one day that a known ISP in Pakistan has shut down operations due lack of vision & commitment.
