Last Minute Privileges

By Fatima Tassaduq • Mar 23rd, 2008 • Category: Politics • One Response

Our caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro has at least taken care of himself. He has awarded Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro, and his family, a life-long gift of a tax-free, hassle-free, well protected high flying retired life with diplomatic passports and much more, costing the state millions of rupees. Yes it’s an old news and may be the said package has been reversed after media has got the whiff of it, but it shows the mindset of our leaders at the top.

Dr. Nasim Ashraf, the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, who has been given the lucrative post and has been awarded the status of a cabinet minister just because he is a fast friend of our President General (r) Pervez Musharraf, and what he has done to the cricket in Pakistan is not hidden from anyone.

Now Dr. Nasim Ashraf is asking for Rs. 874 Million for his National Commission for Human Development. This institute has already sucked and drained huge loads of money, and now like Soomro, Dr. Nasim also wants to have some thing at the last moments of Musharraf departure.

The new government should keep a stern eye on such last minute scams.
