I was in the Sir Syed University Karachi to meet a cousin and there I had a coffee with some of his friends. I curiously asked them that were they also crazy about the mobile numbers of girls and they all first looked at each other in meaningful way and then laughingly said yes. Most of them said that they themselves received wrong calls from girls and they developed friendship that way. They were also of the view that most of the telephone girls only want the balance from the boys so that they could talk at length with their friends.
Another thing which came out is that it had become fashion for girls to compete for the balance and the easy load and cards. They boast then within their friends as how much they deceived the boys. Those boys told me that this was very dangerous for the girls, because many boys take that as insult and then become bent on revenge which normally destroys the girl too.
All in all I got that it was a mental luxury, and both boys and girls were involved in it, though boys seemed bit more crazy about getting the cell numbers of girls. The response of many girls also result in positive, and this becomes an epidemic and any girl can have dozens of boyfriends on the phone at one time.
But then again this could be very alarming for the girls and the boys. So much for the social frustration.
