Land of Opportunity is Pakistan

This is also the easiest and surefire way these days to get into the UK and then vanish. Above all, this is the most painful and speedy way to make one’s life a living hell and to destroy one’s life by one’s own hand.
Thousands upon thousands of Pakistanis are in line to get to the UK. They are attending various seminars being held in different hotels of Pakistan, getting colorful brochures and getting briefed by some slim smart girl about the dreamy life in London or Glasgow. The brochures also contain glamorous pictures of blonde girls holding hands with the Asian boys with books open in their front and a majestic building in the backdrop. By sitting their holding that brochures, the boys replace the happy boy in picture with their smiling picture.
Then start a lengthy and painful and expensive process of going through hiring a consultant, paying hefty fee, arranging documents, character certificates, attestations, medical and a long wait and above all paying huge sum of money to someone in UK. After passing through this long process, when these students land in UK and go to the address of university, they see either some African or Asia sitting acting like Vice Chancellor of University and getting rest of amount from students and sending them to a non-existent university.
Due to shame, frustration and fear, the students don’t go to police or inform their family back home and keep trying getting admission somewhere and soon exhaust the money they brought with them. After that they start looking for petty jobs and they dont even get that and then they end up not having money to even eat a muffin. They start begging or wiping toilets or doing petty crimes. Some end up in jail, or some return after humiliation of life time, and some commit suicide.
A student wastes away some 3 million rupees on average upon this whole education scam in UK. With that three million, they can start their own business with in Pakistan. That’s a huge money. Despite of security issues and corruption, we all know that Pakistan is very fertile for business. With hard work and dedication and perseverance and with 3 million, these students not only can get best of education, they can also start their own business or do job and capitalize on those savings. These students can start online business with few thousands rupees, or they can have a small to medium sized business in any technology from telecom to agriculture to any other according to their aptitude.
As a last note, don’t the UK government knows about this scam? Its not possible that they are unaware of such looting. It seems that they are trying to save away from economic depression by earning money this way.

Consider Rupees 3 million a young educated has. The investment starts with to acquire land, machinery and electricity/water to make it production. Getting the project sanctioned and make it operational, he lose all his cash paid thro’ bribes, payments to governments, payments to influential politicians etc. Once the business starts, the local mafia appears and he endup paying them lifelong. Regular payment also to be made or related government officials as bribe else essentials such as electricity becomes irregular. If he wants to avoid these mafia, he will have to join political party. This means he would endup with bigger mafia and more headaches.
Probably expecting such harsh scenarios, they don’t wish to invest, rather go to UK.
A very important expose of the education racket which is sweeping south Asia. This whole racket has blessings of UK government and also Australian Government. Lot of Indians have to face this same problem.But still they go but now Indian Universities are better especially the IITs and IIMs because the head of CitiBank, Deutsch bank,Pepsico and so many others are headed by the product of these institutions.
the problem is they have become elitist due to stringiest Merit criteria and so keeps out Non English knowing village guys out of the loop.
English teaching in Pakistan alone in villages will open up avenues for many.
And there is nothing a lie about this. This is so true. More important is that we make our own country and eradicate extremism here. It is vital that we do this and then all is good!
Not only boys, but girls have also become victim of such scam and most of them are now in broth@ls.
Insecurity , fake kine of living and projection through media and educational institutes to parents have become reason of this kind of migration.
If there is peace in country people feel less disturbance of going out as due to small family number people are not very interested to send their children to other destinations.
In RWP/ Islamabad culture it looks that some embassies and foreign university give incentives to owners of posh locality schools for encouraging their students for foreign educational institutes.
They regularly call them on the name of educational consultancy and promote this culture or you can say brain wash them by selling dreams of good life abroad.
so sorry to say that weak and insecure society always tend to such migratory moves and we are just following this rule.
I have heard about such scams. But if analyze this logically, then one should come up with a more realistic scenario. The educational institutes, in UK have to go through registration and accredition process, this means that those institutes have to get license to run their institutes and this license can only be obtained if certain educational standard criterion are achieved by the institutes. Furthermore, the UK Border Agencies keep the records of all the reliable institutes with proven tracks and history and only issues Visas to those students who have been given admission to such institutes. Also the admission letter is an immigration document and the UK Border Agency is directly involved in the issuing of such documents. Thus this seems almost impossible that a scam is going on with the involvement of such reliable and huge organizations. This is impossible. Even in a lawless country like Pakistan this is almost impossible , then how come such things happen in UK etc. But if such things are happening in reality then this is of real concerns. But I think some of the institutes might have been closed due to funds etc and many of our Pakistani students who might have not been doing well in their education, are using such events ( on very small level ) in their favor as an excuse just to get away from the scrutiny of their parents. I spent one year in UK studying in Valencia college, and it was worst than the Al Khair University. I came back after wasting so much money. Spot on article and it should be distributed in colleges and universities.

Uou have spoken the Truth. But the craze for foreign degrees by students who could not get into their local colleges on Merit but their parents having money, thi scam keeps coming out. Even US university is doing this.

Reports suggest that people with these types of degrees receive much better treatment in hotels (given upgraded rooms and first class service), restaurants (being seated at a pleasant table when an ordinary Joe may be told the restaurant is fully booked out). Other advantages which have been reported is the opening up of airline ticketing counters specifically for doctorate holders so they need not wait in line with everyone else
There are other stories of people being in workplaces where they have constantly been passed over for promotion. Once they secure a fake college degree or diploma, they get promoted - seemingly simply on the grounds that they are displaying a piece of paper in their office

They are legal, some of our political leaders already admitted and benefitted from it.

Exactly. I know many people who studied abroad but came back to Pakistan and are doing much better than those struggling in foreign lands. I plan to go back too after my studies. I’ve been to a lot of countries but somehow can’t imagine living anywhere else but Pakistan. It’s not just because of some emotional reason, our country has so much potential and resources only a loser mentality would think of leaving this land.

You have heard it and I attended these counseling seminars where so dramatically counselors and principals attract these young minds.There are few school system like Lahore grammar, shoufat, Roots, frobels those have direct links via embassies to those universities who first picked bright students for scholar ships with lucrative packages and then it attracted other as some kind of envious environment is publicized in these institutes of broiler chicken like students whom mummy daddy have enough money to raise their status in their social circles via this way.
Schools in Pakistan and university in abroad give them full assistance in facilitating quick visa services along with other family members , if they want to visit their son or daughter.The beneficiaries of scholarships are mostly filthy rich and therefore other ways money from Pakistan is transferred to those countries in other kind of expenditures like family visits, lodging, admission of other family members etc.Rest of people follow the trends set by few under the influence of strong marketing.
I have many times raised questions in such group meetings that what is return rate of students back to their country or what kind of jobs are available here for such foreign qualified students whose base is trimmed and shaped in western culture.
We as a developing nation has quite different kind of jobs culutre and requirement than what foreign university are offering courses.
Again I repeat my stance that it is so easy to mold or brain wash weak groups of insecure society and all blindly chase the provided packages if projected via fake but glamorous ways.

True. A lot of these universities are interested in ripping money from International students. To claim there’s is no scam in UK is a naive approach probably the ‘person’ uttering this nonsense has never been abroad.The recent case of Rupert Murdoch has exposed the country is run by scammers.

An international education scam that targets foreign students who come to study in the capital has been exposed by a BBC London investigation.
The bogus Irish International University (IIU), which offers sub-standard and worthless degrees, has been allowed to flourish in the UK - virtually unchecked by the government - for the last seven years. Although the organisation is unaccredited, hundreds of students have been given educational visas to enter Britain and take its exams at private colleges in London.
The IIU, which has 5,000 students worldwide and thousands of graduates, maintains the illusion of a valid education through its elaborate but highly misleading website.
This illusion is enhanced by the university’s continued use of Oxford and Cambridge facilities to stage its award ceremonies.
After each event photographs appear on the IIU website showing happy students receiving awards at the UK’s best seats of learning.
Our investigation took us from London to Dublin, Oxford and finally Monte Carlo in search of those behind the IIU.
A BBC journalist and an actor posing as fake academic were invited to the IIU’s award ceremony which, surprisingly, was held at the Divinity School, next to the Bodleian Library, in the very heart of Oxford University.
The ceremony was due to go ahead at Cambridge, but after BBC London alerted the university authorities the event was cancelled. That did not stop the IIU switching venues to Oxford at the last minute……[BBC]
This is some kind of game of interests where all parties including Pakistani institutes, foreign universities and embassies of those countries play a tricky games.
I was perturbed when I saw they are offering scholarships to extremely rich class of Pakistan.
The courses which are offered are less required in Pakistan so it mean these rich stars have to opt for foreign companies.
And I was very surprised to see that even HARVARD like universites had offered such courses and in last years almost 300 visas were allotted to corrupt officers of DHAs and its famuilies to come and visit harvard university..Visa duration was for five years.
and this way corrupt men are sending their kids abroad considering this visa as life time golden opportunity.
actually it is quite right that man digs its graves of problems for himself.
First earning the money through short cuts and then spending it on our dear ones is one of example like that

now they should realize what is happening to them is all due to their past planning for brightening their future.
Pakistan has many opportunities. This country can bloom. It is only a matter of fact that time and security position does not permit the citizens to do anything.
