Kurram Agency Genocide

For two years, the main road of Parachinar is cut off and nobody can travel on it. If somebody has to go to rest of the Pakistan, he first has to travel to Afghanistan and then from there to the Peshawar city of Pakistan.
Armed Taliban roam Kurram and its suburbs and its their rule out there. No serious operation so far has been conducted in this area by the Pakistani security forces. Taliban are fanning sectarian violence in the agency, and after diving the tribes on the sectarian basis, they are ruling the area. Sectarian violence is very old for the Kurram Agency, and it dates back even before the creation of Pakistan in 1947.
The importance of Kurram Agency increases when war against terror is going on in South Waziristan and other agencies and when Pakistan military is busy in cleaning up Swat. When there is no government writ in Kurram, and Taliban rule there, then there is every chance that Kurram could act as hub of terrorism in the region. Kurram is strategically very crucial as it has difficult terrain, hostile people, and it borders with Afghanistan and it has also got sectarian fissures. Key crossing points into Afghanistan, which have been used by militants, are located within it.
Thousands of people have died since April 6th, 2007 in Kurram. There is no infrastructure left in the region. Basic life facilities are scarce. Education, health and business has become an elsusive dream. Supplies of medicines and many food items are not reaching the area. The news from the area is that many many children have died in the clashes. Jirgas, dialogues and conferences have failed in the area, and it seems that a painful operation is the only cure.

After a long wait, troops finally moved into the Kurram Agency, forcing a truce between warring tribes which have been locked in battle for over a fortnight. The battles, set against a backdrop of fierce sectarian animosity, feature the Toori tribe against Bangash tribe clansmen. There is however an additional complication: the Shia Toori tribe has set up a ‘Lashkar’ to battle militants linked to the Taliban. With the fighting now continuing for days, the Tooris called on authorities to move in and assist them.
This has eventually happened. But what is a mystery is why authorities waited so long to act, doing nothing at all to stop the violence that has wreaked havoc on the lives of people. Anti-Taliban ‘lashkars’ in Kurram have stated they had been desperate for help for many days. The delay in action is hardly likely to encourage people in other places to rise against the Taliban. Indeed the fact that the government seemed content to stand by and watch for so prolonged a period is likely to have just the opposite effect. The closure of the main road leading into Parachinar, the principal town of Kurram, is another reason why action should have come. For long durations over the past two years, the highway has remained shut, resulting in acute shortages of food and other supplies. This has resulted also in a spiraling in the prices of basic commodities. It seems like criminal neglect that this situation was allowed to continue for so long. The government owes an explanation to the people of Kurram, and indeed to all of us.
So far, 150 or so people, most of them militants, are said to have been killed in the fighting that has taken place with troops. Soldiers are now deployed in the area, hoping to maintain the peace. But is this enough? The Kurram area has key links into Afghanistan. Routes through it are used regularly by militants, according to the information available on their movements. It is therefore important to conduct an operation in it against the militants, and to make sure they are driven out of the area. It is also true that the people of Kurram have suffered far too many years of bloodshed. They need to be rescued from still further misery and mayhem. It is the duty of the government to ensure this happens, as part of a strategy against militants and as part of their responsibility to the people of Kurram.

Kurram was ethinically cleansed of Shias by the Afghan Taliban with connivance of Lashkar Jhangvi and jaish Mohamed. It was mentioned here before.

I want to mention that situation in Kurranm Agency is worst beyond what it seems on the paper. Medicine and food items shortage and their high price has put the people in v.bad condition.I personally think that the current situation will remain as same and roads from Parachinar to rest of Pakistan will remain closed untill USA leaves Afghanistan or take full control of it.Rest we canpray to ALMIGHTY ALLAH to save us from cruel taliban.AMEEN
There is a great shortage of Life saving drugs in (PARACHINAR) Kurram Agency due to main Thall,Parachinar Highway block bcz of brutality of bustard Talibans.
i think its totally hyporcray by the statement by shia. the orgnially the conflict is a tradtion by the shai sunni in kurram . but this time the sunnies and talban equal by one religon and the shai cash this point to genocide the sunnies form the kurram. the road also block for the the sunni’s villages boshra,landiwan,sang bas and other’s and they can’t traval or get any help form any where becoz the srounding aera of the strong hold by shia. the main city sadda also use the hilly way for the peshawar its danger and vary costly and long. the afghan government is open there roeads and foofabl item to kurram shia . the shia not aginst the taliban but they are genocide the sunnies . and other minroites which live in parachinar form centery . like Qadynes, panjabies . khattak and other realted triabes.
the statement or comment which is issued by the shia is totally wrong and not correct that taliban and suni are fighting with shia,but the shia communities are fighting with suni and other minorities like Hindus,Singh, Punjabi and christians which are living in the parachinar aand country side of the parachinar and they are crushed by the shias in kurram agency very cruely.Actually the shia’s are funded by the Iran and Afghanistan and other countries in Afghanistan against of the Pakistan but the suni’s donot want those forces which are against of the pakistan and thus are fighting with one another in this regard. the suni’s community always help pakistan and protect pakistan from the shia’s in past, present and will save pakistan in future too.
the shia’s are hypocrite and always use the road of Afghanistan to the peshawar and other area of the pakistan, they also block the main road of the peshawar on the suni’s and donot allow and leave the suni’s on the main road.But the suni’s belong to Sadda and the country side of the Sadda are using the hilly and mountainous area’s or road to peshawar and very difficult for the suni’s regarding medicenes, food items and non food items for the Sadda and surrounding suni’s communities.

If you are aware of the geopolitical facts of the district, how Iran approached the agency locked in Taliban infested tribal regions on either side of border, making it impermeable even for the Pakistani government. Iran’s help is therefore just out of question and ridiculous allegation.
To refresh your info. Kurram borders with North Waziristan, Hangu, Orakzai and Khyber agency ruled by Hakimulla Mehsud on Pakistan side and Khost, Paktia and Ningrahar on the Afghan side ruled by Dadullah and Haqqani group. Plus, all the borders villages are inhabitted by Sunnis.
About funding, for such a huge fund to make revolutions in a large district, you need a transfer infrastructure. For more than a year Banks are depleted of cash and if you send a cash money via bank to Parachinar, you will raise the balance but no cash is possible to be paid to the customers.
About your concern with the Pakistan, tell the forum how many times Shia attacked Army and Political convoys or let me tell you that Army convoys and PA were attacked in Lower Kurram Taliban infested Shariat Zadda areas.
Verify your baseless claims of Afghanistan and Iran involvement by putting forward any single reputed Irani or Afghan individual killed on Shia side, or I shall tell you about dreaded Taliban commanders Saifurrehman Mansoor and Sirajuddin of Paktia, Fazal Shah of Khost, Saeed Afzal Mehsud of NWA and Kashmir Mulla of Doaba Hangu and plenty of news reports of infiltration from Bajaur, Khyber (Mangal Bagh) and Mohmand as well. The Nation Daily on 30th September 2008 reported the presence of Baitullah Mehsud in Bagzai, Lower Kurram offensive.
About the roads block to Sunnis of Sadda, give any single verifiable source of a check-post set on roads by Shias, or I can show you the Geo TV and Aaj TV reports with footages of millitants Taliban and Al-Qaeda manning checkposts on the main road.
Once the Taliban could not subdue Turi tribe despite ten times powerful fighters and ammunition, the hue and cry of Iran was manufactured. It is the same what we call, Naach Na Janay Aangan Terha. Shame!
Conclusion is that accept the facts, expel Al-Qaeda and Taliban (Which is far sure that you can’t) and come to peace. I know from my sources, what the Taliban are doing to you people in Sadda, I have footages in which Taliban are abusing you people in a very offensive “Shariat Zada” language.
BURNING OF KURRAM AGENCY.
The situation in kurram agency is far different from other parts of the FATA. Inhibited BY two Antagonistic sections of Shia and Sunni; it has chequered history of Sectarian clashes. The major sectarian conflicts took place in the years 1939,1961,1973,1981,1983,1987,1996, 6th April 2007 and the existing suing on, was started from 16th November,2007 when owing to a preplanned the shia community without any provocation attacked the Sunni minority in Parachinar after Jumma prayer. They brutally killed men, women, and children: mostly burnt alive who were later on buried in a mass grave in Parachinar graveyard. It followed by looting the houses of sunnis in parachinar after ward burnt to ashes under the very nose of Pak Army, Kurram Militia, Kurram Levy/Khassadar stationed in Parachinar, the Sunnis men/women/children were shifted to a camp in kurram Militia and after staying there for almost 10/15 days were shifted Peshawar /Sadda, Lower Kurram in a Army Helicopter and military convoy.
A combined Shia Sunni jirga form outside the Agency was formed which placed a Tigga (truce) pending decision of the issue. But in sheer violation of the truce the Shia community with a spontaneous attack forcibly occupied disputed area of Shoorki, Shna Darga, Munda in Lower Kurram encircling the Sunni population in Lower Kurram who were also forced to evict their 27 villages in Maru Khel, Chutta Manduri, Bagzai, Munda, Bilyamin, Muzaffarkot, and Makhezai Gharbi/Sharqi. Almost 2000 families of the affected areas are now living in various parts of the country like, Thall, Hnagu, Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Haripur, Attock etc. in haphazard hand dilapidated condition facing multiple miseries and problems. Few families residing in Peshawar and Kohat could hardly registered themselves and got some wheat/oil for 2/3 months but the same has also now stopped for unknown reason.
Prior to year 1961 both the sects were living on the tradition of Tribal culture while religion was not the question of conflict, but after the revolution in Iran , its exported doctrine and planting religious scholars form Iran belonging to Gilgit the concept of tribal tradition and Maliki system was changed altogether, decision making started form the Imambaras and the Maliki system was dwindled, the elders were labeled as ALIBABA AND CHAIS CHORE while the political Agent office was declared as YAZID DARBAR.
Deeni madaris funded by a sister country were established in all parts of the agency where all sort of Guerilla training by the retired army men/scouts of the community use to be imparted to fight against the sunnis not only in Kurram Agency but also other parts of the country, certain cases to this effect have been registered but no punishment to the wrong doers.
The Shia community is loyal to other sister countries rather than Pakistan. During the Afghan war thousand persons form shia community were on the pay role of najib militia and their Ulemas like MAZHARUL Haq etc: were voicing form Kabul Radio against Pakistan.
They have attempted:
1. On the life of late Assistant Political Officer Mr: Zarif Khan by hurling a hand grenade inside his official residence in the year 1943-44
2. In the year 1954 they committed criminal assault on the life of late khan Mir Ajm Khan Political Agent, kurram.
3. They killed Abdul Majid Khan Tehsildar (City Magistrate Parachinar) in the year 1967-68 for taking action against a sayed involved in dacoity/ robbery case.
4. They killed Major Kundi, assistant Director Rural Development Kurram in his house.
5. They attacked the Commandant, Kurram Militia in Kurram Militia line while traveling in his official vehicle who had a narrow survival. The culprits who were serving in Kurram Militia as J.C.Cs and other ranks fled to Afghanistan in the year 1982-83.
6. In the year 2001 they killed Mr;Masood-ur-Rehman, Assistant Political Agent, Upper Kurram in his office who unfortunately constructed a small prayer mosque in the compound of his official residence which was objected to by the shia community.
7. In the year 2005-2006 they burnt office of the manager south FATA Development Programme including Official vehicles and office record/equipment, reasoning as to why it has also extended some developmental activities to the central kurram (Sunni dominated inhibition).
8. In the same year 28 July 2005 they attacked the offices/courts of the Political Agent, Kurram brining record/files in the offices/courts and looting the office equipment like computers etc.
9. There are also other criminal attempts against the administration showing their disobedience to the administration whereas the Sunnis have always remained loyal to the Government. There is not a single instance that the Sunni have ever taken which tantamount to disloyalty.
10. In June 2009 they waylaid and blocked the Government road near Alizi- Maru Khel and attempted to kidnap the assistant political agent, lower kurram but he was luckily escaped.
The British safeguarded the interest of the shia community as they were invited by the shia community to rule the country(kurram agency) all the lands of ignorant Sunni population were mutated to the shies, the kurram militia which was established then by none other than shia was named Turi scouts and the customary law was named as Turizuna, all the Educational Institutions, Agriculture/Forest Headquarter Hospitals Veterinary Hospital and other infrastructures were established in shia centralized place i.e. parachinar, the shia community are facilitated with education other life necessities on door steps while the sunnis remained deprived of it all together. The same system is still continued and no visible change is at sight. That is why the Shia community has easy approach to electronic/press media while the Sunni being badly lack of education and approach to vice their miseries are placed on the defaulting side even if the rivals have remained aggressors.
Prior to the start of riot 16th November 2007 , the elders of Shia community held certain covert meeting with the afghan ruler/northern alliance, NATO and Raw in Afghanistan and after convincing them that in case they were provided with men/material and moral support, they would fight against the Taliban in parachinar, the Nation, Northern Alliance Afghan Government and the Raw have supplied them with latest lethal weaponry besides free entry movement, route and supply of essential commodities/medicines and monetary help with full protocol. Later on it was proved that there was not single militant and the Shia took the opportunity of the situation to damage the Sunni population in kurram agency. Had there been a single militant in parachinar he would have been no escape and could be detected after shifting the Sunni to the camps. Parachinar is surrounded for sides by the Shia population right form Balish Khel to malana (south-north) and from Pewar to Kriman, Mali Khel east and west. In such circumstances how can a militant manage to enter parachinar?
During the sectarian rots of 16th November 2007, the kurram levy (955 Shia) political Muharris minus2/3 Sunnis and other officials also joined looting the Sunni property and weapons in Malkhanas of parachinar and Ali Zai. The main culprits were later surfaced but rewarded instead.
The Shia communities during sectarian riot have also killed army/scout personnel including officers of the Major Cadre, and the Sunnis belong masuds, wazirs, orakzai, youafzaii, khalil, khattak afrides and even Punjabis washer men. In case any shia was killed in down districts, D.I.khan Jhang or other part of the country, the shia immediately take revenge from the sunnis in kurram for no fault on their part even the sunnis in kurram agency face direct impact of any event between Sunni-shia in Iraq or other foreign country. The Shia communities have established well trained militants under guise of mehdi militia, hizullah, haderi Taliban. They move about on road side leading to upper kurram duly armed with heavy weapons and uniformed, a few days back a shrine in orakzai agency was burnt: when the Haderi militia/Taliban barely claimed responsibility for it.
The Sunni almost 200 displaced families who ere forced displacement form homeland bare head/feet, deprived of all belongings for the last almost 1 ½ years are living in various parts of the country in extreme miserable condition rather worse than that of swat, buner, dir etc: extending no care by the any government relief agency.
In case an independent commission was instituted to probe the episodes taking place in kurram agency the actual fact could easily be surfaced and know to all those at the helm of affairs that to what extent the sunnis remained deprived to education, health and other basic facilities and basic needs, they have only 5 % male education, ½ % female education and for health care they have to travel al long distance.
The political agent, kurram stationed at parachinar is encircled by the staff of exclusively Shia community. The Sunni have great difficulty for availing passports/N.I.C domicile etc:
It is also worth mentioning that when the shia cry that the road between Thall-parachinar is locked yet they get all day to day requirement through Afghanistan but the Sunnis in Shalozan Tangi, pewar Tangi, Landiwan , Sangbast, Major kali, bushera has so far remained under the siege of shia community from all sides for the last 2 years. The elders, ladies and the children are daily dieing due to starvation and absence of any sort of medicine what to say to their deprivation of education which they have missed so far, the shia in kurram agency can have all sort of essential commodities/ medicines etc: on payment through Afghanistan but what about these population which has no passage to avail it.
Really its a very important problem and our government is not taking any step. But we the tribals should be thankful to the Government of Afghanistan who supported our Shia brothers gaving way to them.

This is straight obvious that the people of Agencies in Pakistan have no concept what a double game has been played by the Pakistani government yet and in the past so many years against Afghans and Pashtons in Pakistan. Look we all can see the government’s structure where there Punjabis dominates and have given no ministries to the pashtons people. The pashtons have been lost 60 years just for a name for their province and will take thousands of years to bring all the agencies to a province and democracy. If I could ask I would ask a simple question, in which I would ask why we have agencies. Why they are not provinces and why they didn’t share the central government with the people if Agencies, because the actual owner is destroyed or sick for a while now.
The government has and had conducted very similar to the Russians conduct in East Europe, like Chechnya, Georgia, Osethia and many other states. People who lives in agencies may cant dare to tell the truth, but we the Afghans know Pakistan what has done to the Afghans and Pashtons people in Pakistan most recently is just enemy.
The government wants to close and limit the roads, food and medicine supplies, so the people will turn as evil and fight each other and some will leave their places. Then the government will play the double game against the Afghans and turn their dream to make their way to central Asia via Afghanistan. The government has a dream like Soviet Union and seems to be failed one day and will have learnt a lesson from Pashtom within its territory.
I know Pashtons love Pakistan, but which Pakistan, the Pakistan of humiliation and discrimination and the Pakistan of double game? No….. They love the Pakistan of the people and fairness and the Pakistan of freedom from the ISI.
