Kashmir Martyres’ Day

It was in this backdrop that Moghul Emperor Nur-ud-Din Jahangir had described it as ‘heaven on earth’. But Kashmir has been turned into hell that would stretch Dante’s imagination first by Maharaja and then Indian police and security forces that let loose the reign of terror through mass killings, rape and murder.
To remember the day Kashmiris launched movement against Maharaja’s atrocities 80 years ago, Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is observed on July 13 every year throughout Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir, and Pakistanis express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for freedom. The day reminds us of the Kashmiri martyrs who had laid down their lives to keep the torch of freedom alight. It was, indeed, due to this movement that British government had appointed Glancy Commission to investigate into the atrocities committed by the Maharaja. Kashmiri leadership, however, realised that they needed to build up an organisation with a view to waging struggle for their freedom.
In 1934, the state’s first elections were held, and the Muslim Conference won 21 out of 16 seats. After two years in 1936, it succeeded in getting 19 out of 21 seats. Congress was upset with these results, and tried to create division in the ranks of Kashmiri leadership. In 1937, a meeting was arranged between Jawaharlal Nehru and Sheikh Abdullah and the latter agreed to convert Muslim Conference into National Conference. When Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas and his colleagues realised that Sheikh Abdullah was toeing Nehru’s line, they revived the Muslim Conference. Historical evidence suggests that Kashmiris have passed through the longest ordeal, and faced repression, death and destruction even before the partition. The British had played an ignominious role in bringing Kashmiris to the present pass, as British had sold Kashmir to Gulab Singh, former governor of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, for 7.5 million rupees.
Once again at the time of partition when people of Kashmir had dreamt of freedom from oppression, India accepted Lord Mountbatten as the first Governor General of India with a view to extracting maximum advantage. An insidious plan of annexing Kashmir was contrived and implemented by Lord Mountbaten and Nehru when Raja Hari Singh was coerced into signing the controversial document on July 26 1947, which was prepared by Lord Mountbatten. It was on the basis of this document that Indian forces entered the Valley, and an endless dark night for the Kashmiris started. On July 19, 1947, Muslim Conference held a convention and passed a resolution to merge Kashmir with Pakistan, which stated: “This convention of Muslim Conference has reached the conclusion that geographical conditions, 80 percent Muslim population, important rivers of Punjab passing through the state, language, cultural, ethnic and economic relations and contiguity of the state with Pakistan make it imperative to merge with Pakistan.”

For centuries, Muslims have become adept at misinformation. They conveniently paint the wrong picture of history.
If the Muslims have not invaded India like robbers and thieves, today India would have been the most prosperous region on earth.
Kashmiri’s must be thanking their allah that they remained with India after seeing the situation of Pakistan today. Or they too would have been raped and killed by the Talibans!

You know in Orlando Disney land USA the first introduction of Indian culture in one of its theme parks is Muslim moghuls heritage .So these robbers and thieves ruled in India for more than 600 years.I hope it is not misinformation but big reality and uses as fine symbols of India all over the world.
Kashmir is a problem and thousand of lives and huge resources have been spent on it but still no solution is provided by either our military dictators or your long operated democratic parliaments.The rape and killings of two women have already halted the city for more than a month showing weakness of govt there.So just think about the lives of Kashmiris whom third generation is suffering due to wrong decision makers.

An independent Kashmir as a free State appears to be the only plausible solution for lasting peace in the region. Otherwise, we may well go on fighting for a 1000 years, just as our great leader Shaheed Z.A. Bhutto once said.

Let the Kashmiris decide their fate.
India must withdraw all troops from the valley, UN to hold plebiscite as per its own resolution and let Kashmiris decide whether they want to live with India or Pakistan or none of them.
World communities should come forward to help resolve Kashmir issue once for all.

The rapists of two shopian women have been found. They are the local J&K police constables.They are caught and punished.But we have the people who are instigated by socalled Hurriyat conference which is in pay of Pakistan ISI that it is carried out by Indian Army. Now that the truth is out, they started another murder of a woman. This also found to be a murder due to love triangle.
By the way J&K portion of pakistan and India got devasted by earthquake 3 years back.do you hear any complaints about it in India? do you see the Pakistan part of Kashmir and i was told it is worse than SWAT IDPs.

I know the whole story and give credit to your free and stable judicairy who solved this crime with all norms of justice.but here it is public pressure that forced the state to do in this directions.Here I again repeat my stance that if Indian govt gives full secuirty to civil rights of their Kashmirs’ muslims no ISI paid huryiat can be effective in this unlucky valley;These are the grievences and negligences of state that put fuel into movement of insurgency wheteher it is backed by enemy or not.Enemy always picks and hits weak parts of body.

Where were the oppressive Indian security forces between 1948 and 1990? Kashmir was peaceful,
Kasmir was the favorite honeymoon destination for Indians. Violence, and terrorism beget violence.
Biggest propganda ploy is indulging and provoking violence, and use it for propaganda. Caste warfare among Kashmiri muslims is also used for anti-India propaganda.

I hope you deliberately intended to utter falsehood with the above statement. Because if you truly
beleive in what you wrote above there is no hope for you.
India is not giving “civil rights” to the Kashmiri Muslims? India gives civil rights to all its citizens including to those living in Jammu and Kashmir. The same same civil rights afforded to Muslims living in the villages, cities and towns across the lenght and breadth of India. This is not something one community’s favor to other but a constituition that we have strived to uphold.
Kasmiri separatism is separatism for the sake of separatism, born out of intolerance to others.
Funny you talk about civil rights, today it is safer in India than in Pakistan for Shia muslims to pray in their mosques, because they dont have to worry about being bombed by Lashkar-e-jangvi.
