Interior Minister managed to calm down the angry coalition partners, both PPP and MQM, after much ado yesterday and then after a meeting with MQM, he declared that nobody will issue conflicting and hard statements.

That and he ordered a surgical operation in Karachi to check the mounting target killings. All the targets either belong to PPP or they belong to MQM. Most of the trouble is in Lyari, Azizabad, Korangi, Landhi, and Usmanabad with some incidents at other places in the city.

The operation has been started in some parts of the Lyari and more than dozen people have  been arrested, most of them belong to PPP, as Lyari is the strongbase of PPP. Nabeel Gabol, who is the federal minister of PPP and the elected member from Lyari has said reacted angrily against his own government and has said that Rehman Malik is only interested in saving his chair and only targeting his own party workers, while trying to appease the MQM. Nabeel has demanded operation in PPP strongholds of Usmanabad, Azizabad, Landhi and Korangi.

The future of the coalition seems to be bleak, but that’s not important. The important thing is that how to maintain the peace in Karachi, the nerve center of Pakistan.
