Kiran, lets face this fact, bitter as it might be, that in this world order (conforming to human nature, I might add) politics of realism (REAL POLITIK) is the only basis. International alliances are made of realism and not altruism. It is about time that we wake up to the reality that there is nothing like a 'Muslim Umma' or 'Islamic World' it has never existed ever and will never ever do. A muslim from Malaysia is absolutely different in his 'world view' and life style as opposed to say a muslim from Morocco and so on. If we accept this basic truth than, only, we can think in terms of our immediate environment, namely our country and our people. You have to take care of your interests and let Indonesians or Iraqis worry for their's.

Muslims have , unfortunately , never ventured in to find any similarities or points of unity . Our greatest tragedy is that where the Western World looks forward to ideas as great as economic integration and military alliances , the Muslim world would rest satified with fitting in to this world in the form of fragments , bits and pieces.

The bollywood's depiction on anything that is goingon in the world or Pakistan has to do nothing with decision or policy making. The public may point out to this aspect but the diplomats or the high ranking officials have always declined from giving such references.

I fail to find any similarities between, Pakistan and Lebanon (two absolute different sets of circumstances and issues) as well as Hezbollah and Jamat ut Dawa (can one compare apples with rotten potatoes?)

You'll find Judith Palmer's thirty year work on the Hezbollah an interesting read. It covers every aspect of it's administration , the very reason why it was able to make a place in Lebanese politics.
