Islamabad Restaurants : Delicious But Deserted
By Fatima Tassaduq • Aug 13th, 2009 • Category: Misc, Worth A Second Look • 7 CommentsIslamabad is one of the prettiest cities in the South Asia with its planned residential and commerical areas, smooth traffic, wide roads, parks, fooliage, Margalla hills looming in the background and an economy booming strictly under the control of government, and so confined to only the elite.
There are many fine and disparate places in Islamabad for dining and lunching. Main areas where good restaurants are located are Jinnah Super Market, Blue Area and in the adjoining areas. These restaurants offer food of various types ranging from desi food, Thai, Latin, Continental, Malay, Central Asian, French and Iranian. These restaurants are well decorated according to certain themes.
During my stay at Islamabad due to work for the last month or so, I dined and lunched extensively out and came to know many nice places. In Blue Area, I liked Bolan Sajji House and their Khadda Sajji was just great. Then there is Jehangir, Savor Foods, Broadway, Cave and Barbecue Tonight. In Jinnah Super, there is Papa Sallis, Handi, Namak Mandi, Cafe Lazeez and Kitchen Cuisine, Rendezvous, CJ and many more.
Apart from these, there is a fine and scenic restaurant at Pir Sohawa right in the middles of Margalla Hills with the name of Monal. Dinner at Monal is simply sumptuous and scenic. Then there is Tandoor in G sector of Islamabad. Then there is a food street in Meldoy market. If you are elite, then you may always go to Serena or Marriott, but thier food is tasteless.
Which is favorite joint for dinner and Lunch in Islamabad?

Just remember golden days of Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz (pre March 2007), when all such kinds of Restaurants/hotels were full by not onlyPakistanis but foreigners as well.
Down with Nawaz, Shahbaz, Iftikhar, Aitazaz, Imran, Qazi, Geo, Ary, Aaj and Kamran Khan, Shahid Masood, Talat Hussain, Ansar Abbasi, Kashif abbasi etc
They are the worst enemies of Pakistan (AASTEEN KEY SAANP) even worst then Baitullah Mehsud.
Allah may curse on them.
Abhi tau tumhey bahut kuch dekhney ko miley ga, Fatima.
The mood in the city is ‘grey’….people pessimistic!
Islambad is no doubt one of beautiful city of world but it was badly affected by last regime as only 40 suicidal bomb blasts were happened in this city in year 2006/2007.So what can we accept of livliness these days.
Mushaf after forcibly leaving the state with flying colors of insult punished his bloody civilians by granting NRO to all absconders. Now he is out and all looters are creating tensions for commoners in the form of load shedding ,high infaltion rates and huge utility bills.
People have little conscience should avoid dining out as our IDPs issue is still existing near to islambad and through such acts we can save little money for them.
In musahrf era surely people of one class had touched the heights by making money through short cuts and then spending on such leisures which is still out of range of our majority class.
It is also observed that billings of norml eatings outs has been tripled then last years.
But if you go to such areas where govt and state dinners and expenses are being used to please each other then you would find no shortages of VIPs there. The top classes area are Islambad club, marriot , serena, pc bhorban and golf clubs, all are under full in parking for 8 to 10 pm on daily basis..
These days people have also moved to higher areas to avoid load shedding tortures so islambad is not in good mood these days.
People are not pessimistic but become reactive due to wrong doings of controllers. This is best time to have family dinners at home by homemade cooking and have lively chats with their close ones as much as possible so that happiest moments can be restored with in family circle and save us evils of outside. It can bring feelings of togetherness among family and friends and people always prefer eating at home vicinity if high quality cooking is served to them with true feelings of affection.
Nazia,
I liked your these last lines… “This is best time to have family dinners at home by homemade cooking and have lively chats with their close ones as much as possible so that happiest moments can be restored with in family circle and save us evils of outside. It can bring feelings of togetherness among family and friends and people always prefer eating at home vicinity if high quality cooking is served to them with true feelings of affection.”.
There is no substitute of what you wanted to explain. thanks.

this is our family traditions and we are still enjoying it .but no doubts when we have to give penalty to our family member then we will miss no chance of taking him or her into such areas.Every area in Pakistan has its typical specialty and one should try it as per range. Thanks to latest kitchen technology, that now every thing can be cooked in our kitchenswithout any problems that were usually faced by our last generations.
I like the valuable info you provide in your articles. I?ll bookmark your blog and check again here regularly. I am moderately sure I?ll learn many new stuff proper right here! Best of luck for the next!
