Islam Allows Men to Beat their Wives? An answer to a Question!

I came by a question and could not stop clicking the “Answer this Question” button. So I did. The question was that does Islam allow Men their Wives if they are Disobedient?
I am not an Islamic Scholar nor do I have any Institutional education on Islam. Also, I do not claim to be any ‘Aalim’ but all I did was to answer the question, and here it was:
“Bukhari is the Sacred Book of quoted sayings of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), let me quote a saying before I start: Bukhari vol. 7 book 62: 32 the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said,” None of you should flog your wife as he flogs a slave and then have sexual intercourse with her in the last part of the day.”
Allah (S.A) has given straight orders to all humanity about how should they deal with women. And the orders are straight and clear, not as rigid as you have mentioned in the question above. It says; deal with the women by first talking to them, and then by separating from them and then at last hitting them or beating them. Now let us get to the depth of this. We will move on our explanation with the look at what is happening in this world today and how this order is right.
The first was is Talking With Them: Well nothing seems wrong with anyone with this part of the Verse. Talking is very polite way or solving things. So let’s move to the next part.
Second part is Leaving Them: Well, you must be familiar with the fact that the highest rate of divorce is in the west. Almost every man has more than three relations in his life. So it is clear that those men Leave the women when they are not happy with them and when they think their women are wrong or cheating with them, so the west seems to follow this Verse up till here.
Third part Beat Them: Let me explain that here beating does not mean to brutally hit her, it mean to firmly treat her with an anger and tell her she is wrong by of course beating her a bit. Not on her head because in Islam beating on head is strictly forbidden even to men, not on her belly because it is sacred, not on her sensitive parts and not on her face. Where would you beat? Legs? Yeah maybe a small pat! So it does not mean to hit her badly, it is just to scold her a bit. (Very informally: You kick your girlfriends a bit with anger when you are unhappy with them, does that mean you have beaten her? NO! So it is the small beating, the minute one, the one commonly found between couples in west too)
Why didn’t Bush solve the Iraq issue by Talking to the bad boy - Saddam? Why did he need to “Beat” Saddam? I think you are getting me hmm… lets move one! West is ahead in statistics and another stat here tells that west has the highest number of Depression rate in men (there are more depressed men than women, see stats) which is due to the number of divorces and “Flirts” that the women play with them. Women leave the men after flirting enough with them and the men, after their women have gone sleeping with another man; they are left alone depressed and broken. That is why the west has the second highest drug addicts rate which, as the doctors explain, is due to the fact that depressed and single (those left by women) men starting taking drugs to give themselves relief. Where are we going? Divorces? Flirts? Illegal Sex? Drugs?
Christianity does NOT, and I repeat it Christianity does NOT allow illegal sex. The law of the west says you cannot beat your wife if she has slept with another man to whom she is not married to. So it results that “You cannot beat your wife if she has 1. Done an illegal thing, 2. Is not loyal, 3. Committed a sin.”
You cannot scold the woman who has eaten up your dollars and slept with you and took your time love and shared your bed and house and car and everything, can’t you even scold her a bit? As I told earlier beating does not mean there to hit her, above legs beating is forbidden even when you are beating a man. Beating is altogether forbidden. It is the scolding which is ordered. That’s all.
I Hope all of my Christian, Jew, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist brothers have understood.

No problem.
One Simple Question:
If a MARRIED man does the following:
1. Done an illegal thing,
2. Is not loyal or cheat on their wife.
3. Committed a sin. (as per your words)
Then do wives have the right to BEAT THEIR HUSBANDS ??….at least slightly!!!!
You see why spare the men??

Infact husbands COMMIT the above three “crimes” far more than wives.
Therefore whatever u have written is more suitable if wives apply them over their husbands.

Ayaz, I like your approach to this issue. You are analytical and the fact that you went to reference your claim with Bukhari reflects your analysis to be methodical…. Great job Brotha!
However, I don’t quite entirely agree with your claim. I won’t get into the debate whether it’s allow for men to beat (ever so slightly) women; perhaps it’s allowed, perhaps not … But, slightly is a referential parameter. What might be little for me might in fact be a lot for you…. From my perspective I might be patting you, but you might feel as if I m bat-ting you (beating you with a bat, hehe)
So why would you want to establish this as an option for the reader? Why do you want to propose that yea while brutal beating is not allowed, playfully-soft-outbursts-of-passionate-anger are acceptable?

Its not my thing mostly to comment back on my articles but your comment made me answer. Dear Brother/Sister as I explained in the article not even the Husband has the right to beat his wife. No one is given a right of supremacy over the others. But the wife is ordered to obey his Husband. Also, Men are told to be loyal and nice to their Wives. Islam gives equality, the degree of obedience is the same but the law and order in an Islamic home is divided in a hierarchy.

Why are you marginalizing your religion that has already been tainted by the Throat-Cutting Taliban and Al-Qaeda Please Stop THis Bukwaas. Only impotent men beat up their wives to show they are strong. Such men should be Castrated.
There is no mention in the Quran on wife beatings. If there is it is in the context of at time 1400 years ago when men had over four wives plus slaves and polygamy was widely practiced. This cannot apply to today’s women. Today’s woman who is Muslim and living in the West free of Sharia laws will beat up her husband and probably have him arrested.

i am mentioning to ashoka . dear ashoka , Mr.ayaz ali is saying correct by the islam and islam is forever not for a specific period …you can see our community now a days ,you will be aware about actoress mera , she also call him a muslim girl , there are a lot of girls in universities which are living in such a enviroment which oppress them and after all they become wives and they want to live free with all classfellows and etc … what will you say how aman shouls stop them from all rough things …..sure your answer will be with polite way and after alla they dont do such things then what a man should do ……. islam has some nice restrictions which make you and your family honourable and noble …..
