Is Present Government Failing?

By Altaf Khan • Sep 10th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 3 Comments

The friendly opposition PML-N only sees government failing when they get a feet on their tail, and when they get what they want, they go back to their hybernation. Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has made it a habit of scolding government bitterly at the start of every assembly session, and then he goes back to his slumber.

The common people of Pakistan wonder and it’s they who have no doubt that this government has miserably failed and faltered. People are dying after flour and sugar. Police is beating and even killing people who are gathering to try to get flour or sugar. Corruption stories are rampant from top to bottom. From rental power plants to steel mills and in other deals, there are numerous stories about corruption and kickbacks.

There is no transparency and accountability. The institutions of the government are numb and dysfunctional. Government is meeting it’s mammoth expenditures by raising the tariff of power and petroleum products. Nobody has any clue where we are going and what are the objectives, long term and short term, and what would be the next step in war against terror or other gigantic problems.

What do you think? Has this government failed?

  1. Not yet , but its on the verge of failing

  2. No it is actually falling from top to toe as all are under fire. One can hardly find a minister or president or team of PPP parliamentaria under scam of corruption or casual attitude on serious issues.

  3. I fail to understand the audacity of the politicians in Pakistan and their appointed advisors. Take Ms Fauzia Wahab for example, who was recently hear on television telling us to forget about higher education when we have not established education for primary throughout the country. What a wise thought it may be on her part. Quote ” HEC is like a Penthouse on a Shack” If i were to agree with her then she too must agree with me. When we haven’t given the masses basis necessities we must also not expect the President, Prime Minister or any elected representative to use Imported Cars, Air Conditioners. I am sure a fully loaded Suzuki Liana would suffice for the President and Prime Minister and Suzuki Cultus would do just fine for the ministers.
When asked what is the increase in budget for the current year she went on to say i don’t know and its not important. I forget now is she a minister for the zoos in Karachi ? If she does not know the answers i would suggest she go and do her research rather than sitting in front of television anchors trying to prove a point which at least i do not understand. Talking of which i don’t even understand why all these advisors and politicians sit in talk shows.
My first and only question to them is what is your JOB? please do your job. Do not sit on television talk shows because firstly that is not your job and secondly i don’t like seeing you. These so called ministers and advisors are better suited to studying and researching and making the common man’s life better.
If people like Sharmila Farooqui can, after having studied at an architecture institute become the advisor to the CM on Sindh i may want to question what is criteria as i may want to become the Advisor on Pakistan itself. Why does she sit on television shows. Since her education does not allow her to be an expert of Sindh i would at least expect her to spend more time on studying the culture and background on Sindh so if she did want to give worthy advise it would carry some weight.
I sometimes forget you do not need to have any substance for such jobs.
The list goes on and on seemingly endless. I would appeal to clowns and monkeys to do what you do best but at least do it with integrity. You may not know how to do your job and it seems no one does but then you can always learn. To be political was a dream but for the people who are political in Pakistan is a disgrace to the word itself.
