Is Pakistan a Failed State? NO
By Danyhasan • Mar 17th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 19 CommentsSince the last few years Pakistan has been portrayed as a failed state. Our own supposed head of the states have portrayed Pakistan as a den of extremism where nobody can control the situation. They claimed that the stability of the country is linked to them being in office. Ofcourse, they had their own vested interests because of which they went around the world saying such stuff.
The last two years brought about a new unseen vibrancy in the Pakistani society. God bless Musharraf who tried to tame the judiciary which in turn led to one of the most popular movements in the history of Pakistan. This movement has been going on since the last two years, though there have been breaks at different stages and it appeared that the movement has died.Yet the lawyers, civil society and the media did not let the movement fail.
When people were asked to donate for reducing Pakistan’s loans, they donated generously. After the 2005 earthquake people helped out their country men by donating food, cash etc and also worked for their rehabilitation. Youth organized relief camps even though they had no experience of doing such things.During the last two years Pakistanis have appeared in large numbers for expressing their anger towards the establishment. Pakistani youth have willingly spent time in jails their only fault being their desire to protest the state atrocities. Students from elitist institutions who were considered to be ignorant of the ground realities came out on the streets in a very organized manner. They made posters, wrote brochures, countless blog posts highlighting the need for establishing rule of law in the country and their desire to put our beloved country back on track. They realized that this is our country and we will work for its correction. The journalists and lawyers could not be stopped by police batons and teargas. They bravely fought them. Lawyers stayed in prisons, under house arrest for months. A senior lawyer Munir A Malik was tortured so much that he started suffering from kidney problems. Yet he refused to budge from his stance. Private news channels were put off air, and anchors were not allowed to appear on the screen. But they came back with full enthusiasm. Section 144 was imposed at regular intervals yet lawyers, civil society, political activists came out on the streets with more enthusiasm. A sitting chief justice was manhandled by the police, illegaly put under house arrest with his family. With constant struggle he came back and delivered justice and tested the nerves of those who were in power. The movement for the rule of law has been going on since the last two years. It has taken down one of the most powerful generals the country has seen and now they are about to take on a civilian dictator. The movement started at a time when it appeared that the concience of the Pakistani society has died down and nobody has the will or the courage to fight for their rights. However different segments of the society have shown their unseen valour and motivation.
Can anybody claim that Pakistan is a failed, unstable state which cannot be controlled? My answer is NO. The Pakistani nation has proved to the world that they are the masters of their destiny. Anybody who tries to mess with them can miserably fail and will be made to pay for the conequences. They have taken down one of the most powerful generals the country has seen and can take down anybody who comes in their way. Our nation just needs a direction and a vision. They have the will, the motivation and determination to put their beloved country on the path of prosperity. May Allah grant us success. AMEEN.

Paki passive agressive stance in the GWOT
will not alow them to defeat the Taliban.
In the past 4 years the Taliban has continually
defeated the Paki Army and security forces
to the point the insurgents now control more
of the country then the Paki Government does.
The Paki security forces have a co-dependant
relationship with the insurgents.
Its just a matter of time before they attack and
control the large major population centers.
The nuclear weapons remain a grave concern.
HOW DOES THE WORLD DEAL WITH A FAILED
nUCLEAR STATE? And home for al Qaeda.
This paradigm is well documented by
Combating Terrorism Center at West Point,
latest news letter. Genius article.

Gerald Anthro
well,
Mr. anthro
the misconception and opinion of a single person can not be regraded as reality. you may be right that pak security forces SEEM the way u described but this is not the reality.
there is a LONG story behind the scene. we just read the news and start commenting on these sensitive issues. the fact is that we do not know many things. i have been telling this all the way that we do not even know who are talibans, why the great pakistan seem weak against a small group of fighter, why the security forces surrender to them. . .
there is game being played by Pakistan in its own great interests. there are many things which can not be discussed in such forums.
but as you described Pakistan. . it is just your misconception. Pak army is one of the best in the world. Pak nuclear and missile program is one of the best in the world.
i am not claiming because of being a pakistani but i have had research on this. yes i agree that pak politicians are the worst sheep in the world with no exception. Pak is the abode of corupt politicians. i will always speak against them untill some one could prove that democracy and its players, the politicians, have a single pious and genuine intention or at least a hope.
there is no democracy which has not created such a polarity among the social sectors. actually the the things you quoted might reflect the worst of democracy and the black faces of politicians but NOT PAKISTAN.
Pakistan Zinada Bad!
Sidra, what is Pakistan? Is it not the people and their leaders?
Mr. Anthro,
I respect your opinion and would expect that you understand Pakistan’s people stand on this issue too keeping yourself neutral from the biased western media.
When these Taliban were the Mujahideen, fighting the war for West against the Russians in Afghanistan, at that time people like you used to portray them as heros. Now after the task has been achieved, like any other regimes in history, they have become enemies of the west …. we have a long history of American freedom wars in Vietnam, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan.
These so called militants are fed from neighbouring countries and are not the native peace loving Pathans.
We are fully aware of the facts and the scheme to de stabilise this country internally by turning its people against eachother. We have shown people power yesterday which decides our fate and not the puppet leaders incorporated by the west like Raza Shah Pehlwi, Karzai, Musharraf and Zardari etc. ….
Yes, there is a mess created by the west right now, but we will go places Mr. Anthro, we will …
Best regards
Danyhasan,
Nice article. It is good that people of Pakistan are fighting dictators and people who want to destroy Pakistan. Can they do the same with Taliban and the other extremist groups who are coming up in Pakistan. They will also destroy Pakistan if not removed.
Mr. Baba Ji:
I think you have a factual error.
“When these Taliban were the Mujahideen, fighting the war for West against the Russians in Afghanistan, at that time people like you used to portray them as heros. Now after the task has been achieved, like any other regimes in history, they have become enemies of the west ”
They were heros, fighting the Russians/
But they were not suicide bombing Mosques and market places and killing women and children.
The Taliban became enemies of the West when they took in their guests the al Qaeda,
after the 911 attack,
They host their “guest” even though the guest treat them as dogs.
The Talioban have killed over 300 tribal leaders in the past 4 years.
That is why they are the enemy.
If they were to give up al Qaeda the west might loose interest.
You understand revenge.
This is what the West will HAVE, nothing less.
USA will chase al Qaeda to hell if need be,
just like the Jews hunted the natzi’s.
The mess was not created by the west,
But by Allah we will have al Qaeda;s heads.
Paki could be a great Nation but just now they
are in chaos.
The Paki people need to decide about the Taliban.
They are stealing your country.
Suicide bombing innocents is NOT the Paki way.
KHALID AL-HUBAYSHI: “The problem is not jihad, it is how you do the jihad,” he says now. “I regret the way I went about it and I regret that I said nothing when I saw things that I knew were wrong.”, ( Bombing Mosques, market places, killing women and children.G)
Look at Afghan when it was under the Taliban,
What Paki would want to live that way?
G
Gerald Anthro
Mr. Anthro,
Maybe you got me wrong there. No, I am not for Taliban, we do not want them and we definitely wish to finish them off asap ……. and we did not create this monster …. it is a gift from u people when u funded all this militancy in the late 70’s ….. now having said that “let us solve this problem ourselves” … do not thrust upon us your strategies via puppets …. Please do let me know if there is a single case solved by the U.N. till date as my limited knowledge fails me here … also if anywhere in the world any puppet regime succeeded please apprise us on that too…. where ever west has gone, it has left a bigger mess behind them … but still if you think this strategy of foreign hand helps solve issues then we will be happy to help U.K. in Ireland ……….
regards
Swat Sufi asks judges to keep out of courts
PESHAWAR/MINGORA, March 16: The peace initiative launched by the NWFP government in Swat faced fresh problems on Monday when Tehrik Nifaz-i-Shariat Muhammadi chief Maulana Sufi Mohammad asked judicial officers to stop coming to courts and said that any further court proceedings would be in violation of the agreement signed by the government.
Addressing a press conference in Mingora, the Maulana announced that the qazi courts would start functioning on Tuesday and, therefore, judges should stop functioning.

ANY YOU GUYS CLAIM PAKISTAN IS NOT A FAILED STATE………………..lol
GO MQM AND BEAT THE HELL OUT OF THEM…………………
AND YOU GUYS CLAIM PAKISTAN IS NOT A FAILED STATE………………..lol
Pakistan is a failed state. This country has nothing to show since 1947 but terrorism and hatred. The population obviously does not have the intelligence to create anything indeginouesly, except adapt cheap chinese technology. Industry development is abysmal, education system is a failure can anyone think of any Paki CEO?? ha ha, Paki armed forces that prides itself in losing,
no middle class, land owner serfdom still exists, no women rights, i could go on and on. Frankly the top 10 richest in India which by the way includes 2 muslims have more money than Paki country.
ARYAN what do u mean women dont have rights i am pakistani women living in paki i work i drive i go out u are talking about the top ten rich people in india but u forgot to tell us about the slums of india and how poor familys go without food every night dont u worry about pakistan it will never go down u should worry less about pakistan and more about your country u still the cast hindus bury there baby girls alive all hindus just thing about having boys .i can go on on on u see every country has it problems
well MR Anthro I truely respect your feelings but still Pakistan is not a failed. The Paki army is trying to fight terrorism and hopefully terrorism will be wiped off soon.
Aryan PAkistan is the most liberal country in the world every country has problems but it certainly doesnt mean that its a failed state. India has problems too should I began there are very very less women rights in India, No rights are given to different religions, you too have the tamil tigers in your country who too are terrorists. Do you want me to go and on. Worry less about other countries and worry about the fact that how will you improve your country. Its easy to point fingers but very difficult to correct oneself.
Speaking with determination and valour will not going to change the situation. Political leadership and military rulers are the main causes for the label of a failed state. Neighbour the two giants are steadly growing. Problem is that the foundation stone is laid on the Hatred for India, This is not going to yield any result.
reason for instability in pakistan is majorly due to incompetent, corrupt, illegitimate and unbridled beaucracy and supra establishment. it started with the illegitmate rule of undemocratic set up since 1977 supported by judiciary and mullahs. today mullahs are most wealthy section of the society followed by judges, bureaucrats and as pointed out by ayisha in her landmark writing milbusiness by the professionals. civil society is helpless, silent and under the influence of gustopo like organizations. Drug dealers and transports, land grabbers are in control of country’s assests. Pakistan has never been a failed state and would never be like that. Its founder and its real owners are still alive and would never let the nefarious design of fictatious imperialist State in the region come true. Time will change soon and fake tigers and economic tycoons would be visible to everyone in region.
My dear friends!
I respect everyone’s view point. I have got the chance to travel through out the world. I have seen many societies from a very close distance. When I compare Pakistan with others, I always find it the BEST. In human history every nation had peculiar problems. The great nationS have always overcome them. The way GREAT PAKISTANIS have faced the challenges in the last 63 years, it indicates their resolve, determination and pride. My BELOVED PAKISTAN is here to stay. Nothing will happen to this country. Its not a failed state but a vibrant society. The time will tell how PROUD PAKISTANIS will overcome all hardships in future to make Pakistan a prosperous and great nation-state.
LONG LIVE PAKISTAN
@ a pakistani < InshAllah.
Countries kome into existence on the basis of some resolution/revolution. the Base of Pakistan is “Pakistan ka matlab kia? La ilaha Illalah”
this is the only point, the only promise for which Pakistan was created and promise fuliflled by Allah.
but we, the pakistanis are not fulfilling our promise to HIM. the way body needs food to survive, soul needs faith to keep it alive, and the problems will remain unless n until we dont nourish this land with “La ilaha illallah”.. its like any politician’s promise of providing th citizens wid basic needs like water, food, but their promises only remain promises.
Allah has made this land for HIS own sake. InshAllah, Pakistan will prove itself the way our beloved prophets did and conquered here n here after
Peace n long live pakistan inshAllah.
i sustain th peace on earth but if some one tries to step on me, then i m like a cobra and i will Bite
i m not afraid of U.S. built talibans, or any other nation creating a mess for us, i m not afraid if the enemy tries to weaken me by water or food crisis, by suicide bombings, or by any other means, the more they try to weaken me
the more stronger i feel, i am a Pakistani, i am for Pakistan, for Allah. I M, Alhamdulillah,ready , r u ?
just wanted to say that MAY ALLAH ALL MIGHTY KEEP PAKISTAN UNDER HIS BLESSINGS AND INSHALLAH EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT. ALL THE PAKISTANIS OUT THERE KEEP YOUR HOPES HIGH AND NEVER NEVER NEVER LOSE HOPE. ALWAYS defend PAKISTAN.
all us Pakistanis should keep praying to ALLAH for improvement and in the meanwhile try our BEST to defend, improve and have faith in Pakistan. For instance, the young people out there can;
STUDY AND WORK VERY VERY VERY HARD to gain the best EDUCATION and no matter in how bad a condition you may be, KEEP WORKING HARD and show the world that PAKISTAN has the MOST HARD WORKING people,
STUDY FOR PAKISTAN AND ENTER A A GOOD PROFESSION AND FIELDS IN WHICH PAKISTAN IS BEHIND THE OTHER COUNTRIES,
KEEP PAKISTAN CLEAN AND TIDY. pick up any litter that you see. Defend ISLAM and PAKISTAN. remember ALLAH IS WITH YOU.
PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!!!
Pakistan Zindabad
NEVER
NEVER
NEVER INSULT YOUR OWN COUNTRY, PAKISTAN.
ALWAYS
ALWAYS
ALWAYS DEFEND YOUR OWN COUNTRY, PAKISTAN.
there is no need to fight with others or Indians if they insult our country.State your defending statement calmly otherwise if you get too aggressive and go over the limits the Indians or any other person would succeed in enraging you and REMEMBER their main purpose is to enrage us and cause disputes amongst ourselves.
REMEMBER, NO COUNTRY AND, I MEAN NO COUNTRY, IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER. EVERY COUNTRY FACES DIFFICULTIES AT SOME POINT. ITS JUST THAT PAKISTAN HAS BEEN FACING DIFFICULTIES FOR A VERY LONG TIME. DO NOT WORRY AND
KEEP KEEP KEEP YOUR HOPES HIGH AND HAVE ABSOLUTE FAITH IN ALLAH. INSHALLAH EVERYTHING PAKISTAN WILL BE A STABLE AND PROSPERING COUNTRY IN FUTURE, INSHALLAH, INSHALLAH.
HAVE FAITH IN ALLAH.
HAVE FAITH IN ALLAH.
HAVE FAITH IN ALLAH.
KEEP PRAYING FOR A BETTER PAKISTAN.
KEEP PRAYING FOR A BETTER PAKISTAN.
KEEP PRAYING FOR A BETTER PAKISTAN.
I SALUTE TO EVERY PAKISTANI OUT THERE, EVERY PAKISTANI. NEVER SURRENDER!!!!
Honestly, I believe Pakistan is a failed state, 60 years are witness of our constant failures and foolishness, may be this current political setup will delay end of Pakistan, but it will happen, after all we started our pursue of better life in the name of Islam, ideological states do not make it to a long run, Soviet Union, Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, Khilafat all are failures in long run. Pakistan will meet its fate just like Yugoslavia, hope we are not killing eachother by then.
