Interview with Blogger Mirza Asad Baig

I am a real enthusiast with “thinking outside the box” technique for life. I have accomplished as well as lost many things but it has all been gamble of life. I have moved around soo much in my life that nothing seems constant no more and on the other hand I have learnt a lot from all my experiences. Sitting at a not too old and not too young number of “28″ I think I have seen pretty much seen everything but do believe that there is a lot more to learn. I have been twisted like a cork, hammered like a nail, kicked like a ball and finally been taken like another brown man in the white man’s world I live in but “hey, there is never enough to complain”.

With my writing I want to concentrate and write as much about Pakistan as I can in order to portray the true image of my dear homeland. For me its always as Persident Musharaf said “Pakistan First”…

Could you tell us what made you decide to blog, and what was the inspiration behind it?

Pakistan, is the reason I started blogging. I want to improve the image of the country by presenting no bias views, facts and news.

What do you think sets Your blog apart from other blogs?

My blog talks about reality. No if’s or buts its just about a result oriented approach. I hate living in hope so I try to speak there through my writings

If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?

Persistence. I always try, try and try again

What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?
Happiest day was the birth of my son Usaid. I will never forget the moment when I first saw him.

Up till now there haven’t been a gloomy moment so cant say about that.

Urdu Blogs have got huge potential, when do you think they will really take on the online horizon in Pakistan?

The time will come soon. There is a lot of work being done at the moment but I think urdu blogs are still in teething
stages. People who do blogs in urdu need to market them properly like there needs to be a big urdu dedicated blogging
website (an idea I want to work on) and that would take things to a next level.

If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?

Interesting question. I would pick

Turkey because of its history, Egypt for the architecture and China for its potential

What is your favourite book and why?

My favourite book is

In The Line of Fire - Pervez Musharaf because it is the first book which came out with some truthful insight about Pakistan and the challenges it faced/faces.

What is your favourite meal, dress, and sport?

In sports tennis tops the list, any seafood will always have my attention and dress well suit’s

What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?

Personality is one thing I try to see of anyone I meet. Its a big factor for me.

Whose Future is more bright in Pakistan; English blogs or Urdu Blogs?

Urdu blogs. Because Urdu is getting more and more attention day by day and there is a lot of work being done at the moment.

How Pakistani bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?

I am not sure about this but may be a market oriented platform of blogging can help for any financial gains.

Do you think Pakistani bloggers tend to remain somewhat self-centred and really don’t go out of their shells? Is it the oriental style of blogging, or they are still unsure about it?

Well, unfortunately most of Pakistani’s are doing a lot of blogging but its out of context at the moment. There are good writings but they seem to lose their direction when people start discussing them in the comments section. Blogging is something one should take very responsibly.  The discussion after the blog should always have a motive of achieving results rather than shallowness. I cant really blame people for it because Pakistan’s bloggers (specially youth) are currently in a shell of denial and hopefully there will be a time when they will soon come out of it.

My idea of blogging is to write the truth which comes from one’s brain but has ones emotions as well (to an extent)and NO BIAS.

What do you think where the Pakistani blogosphere is right now?

In the middle of either taking the right direction or the path of destruction

Who are your top five favourite bloggers in Pakistan?

I read a four of them quite regularly and they are as follows:-

Pakistanization
Pakistan ka khuda hafiz
Ahmed Quraishi
The Pakistani Spectator

Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger in Pakistani blogosphere?

Ahmed Quraishi wins my vote on this one.  His writing always hits the nail in the head!

What is the future of blogging in Pakistan?

The future of blogging depends on the awareness of it. The government and the media should try to create more and more awareness of it and the future would be bright for sure. I think T.V channels should come up with programmes who concentrate on blog world of Pakistan, initiating some incentives would do excellent favours to the blogging world.

You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?

Its hard for me to take time out and write. Like at the moment I havent written any thing in weeks. Its hard for me coz my profession doesnt give me much time but whenever something big happens I am there to type my thoughts. I hope to become more and more regular but in the end its about finding time isnt it?

What are your future plans?

I want to develop a platform for Pakistani bloggers. I have recently engaged few contacts and I would really love to bring all Pakistan bloggers on one platform and then market that blog to the world through my sources. Lets see if this works or not.

Any Message you want to give to the readers of The Pakistani Spectator?

Blogging can be on various subjects but at the moment I think all of us should concentrate on writing about Pakistan and the people of Pakistan. The world needs to be truly aware of how we think. The western media doesnt really help our image with their biased reporting and the Pakistani media is just funded by the wrong people. So it is our responsibility that we gather ourselves and write positive things about our homeland.

After all we are Pakistani’s and if Pakistan’s credibility is question then our credibility as a nation is at stake.

Pakistan Paindabad , Pakistan Zindabad
