Interview with Blogger Mercedes and Mila

Would you please tell us something about you and your site?

We are two, Mercedes and Mila or Mila and Mercedes the M&M

Mila: I born in Spain, I live in France I have a University degree and the idea of the blog was of Mercedes.

Mercedes: I born in London; I live in Spain; I have two children and also have a University degree. The blog was inspired by the great injustice or lack of justice that came with the Madeleine McCann case. It is an appeal to the government, judiciary and police to do their work.

Do you feel that you continue to grow in your writing the longer you write? Why is that important to you?

Mila: Yes, better in the sense that I can convey more accurately my ideas. I feel useful.

Mercedes: I do not know if I grow, but we have more readers than when we started. It is important because it is a way to join forces in one direction.

I’m wondering what some of your memorable experiences are with blogging?

Mila: Find people who think like me and live across the world.

Mercedes: The friendship, the blog has allowed me meet personally amazing people, fighters, dreamers…

What do you do in order to keep up your communication with other bloggers?

Mila: Put links to their blogs, read them, report when the news is common.

Mercedes: I communicate on a regular basis through the mail, Skype and similar facilities.

What do you think is the most exciting or most innovative use of technology in politics right now?

Mila: Internet.

Mercedes: e-Government.

Do you think that these new technologies are effective in making people more responsive?

Mila: Yes

Mercedes: Yes, no doubt.

What do you think sets Your site apart from others?

Mila: In Spain is the only one on the subject.

Mercedes: It’s the only blog in Spanish about this case.

If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?

Mila: Patience.

Mercedes: Tenacity

What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

Mila: The birth of my second son - the day I had to give very bad news to my mother.

Mercedes: The day I was a mother - On the death of my father

If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?

Mila: Greece, Egypt and France

Mercedes: Africa, India and China

What is your favorite book and why?

Mila: The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco, has everything I like, police intrigue, mystery, history, philosophy, observation of the human soul

Mercedes: A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. Just brilliant. A delirious account of a crazy society.

What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?

Mila: The general attitude when I talk or when I observe.

Mercedes: The eyes.

Is there anyone from your past that once told you you couldn’t write?

Mila: No, quite the opposite.

Mercedes: No.

How bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?

Mila: No idea, I’m an ignorant without ambition.

Mercedes: The Pay Pal is a formula, but we do not use it as our bit to try to get a little better this world is free.

Is it true that who has a successful blog has an awful lot of time on their hands?

Mila: No, he/she takes it out of other things.

Mercedes: No. He/she is a master of time management.

What role can bloggers of the world play to make this world friendlier and less hostile?

Mila: Bringing together people of good will.

Mercedes: Demonstrate that there are many people who want a friendlier and less hostile world.

Is there one observation or column or post that has gotten the most powerful reaction from people?

Mila: The funniest: the day that Mercedes went to a conference and disappeared.

Mercedes: The wrong post.

What is your perception about Pakistan and its people?

Mila: A country tortured between its past and its future.

Mercedes: I could not say it better.

Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger?

Mila: No, I think that anything is possible.

Mercedes: Yes, the truth is that this world in generally doesn’t cease to amaze me.

What is the most striking difference between a developed country and a developing country?

Mila: The way to consume goods.

Mercedes: The social tensions.

What is the future of blogging?

Mila: Uncertain, even in democratic countries.

Mercedes: Had I said that I am a gullible dreamer?

You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?

Mila: I read less, I see fewer movies, go out less, and sleep less.

Mercedes: In the professional in any way, in my personal life I have removed the excess and reduce my spare time. In fact I have forgotten what that is.

What are your future plans?

Mila: Put an end to this blog because the case is resolved, and open another!

Mercedes: No wonder we are partners in this venture!

Any Message you want to give to the readers of The Pakistani Spectator?

Mila: The best, whatever the best thing is for them.

Mercedes: This is a window to the world; make it useful to improve.
