Interview with Blogger Ayesha

By The Pakistani Spectator • Aug 10th, 2008 • Category: Interviews • 10 Comments

I am Ayesha and I blog here.

Could you tell us what made you decide to blog, and what was the inspiration behind it?

I was basically a reader. When you read a lot thoughts are bound to form. Next you want to write them down. And if you get a chance to share these thoughts with the whole world it is rather exciting. The real inspiration behind blogging is a friend of mine. She’s a beautiful writer. I read her for a while and then decided to start blogging.

What do you think sets your blog apart from other blogs?

Nothing special except that I write both fiction and non-fiction.

If you could choose one characteristic you have that brought you success in life, what would it be?

Determination! This quality has always helped me succeed in life; though I don’t categorize myself as successful. I have yet to achieve my goals.

What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

When I saw Kaa’ba the first time; I was both happy and in awe of it. The gloomiest moment was when I lost my mother. Just as happy moments are not forever same goes for the gloomy moments. All you are left with memories in the end.

Urdu Blogs have got huge potential, when do you think they will really take on the online horizon in Pakistan?

Only when Urdu blogging in Urdu script has been introduced.

If you could pick a travel destination, anywhere in the world, with no worries about how it’s paid for - what would your top 3 choices be?

Spain

Poland

France

There is so much to explore in these countries.

What is your favorite book and why?

To Kill a Mocking Bird, It is sweet, compassionate and a moving novel that brilliantly highlights the issue of slavery in the America of 50’s.

What is your favorite meal, dress, and sport?

Karahi Gosht (That my sister cooks).

Any dress is my favorite that I am comfortable wearing.

In sports I am fond of Tennis and Cricket.

What’s the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?

Eyes and the way a person talks. Eyes are windows to the soul. It can tell a lot… if you are a good reader.

Whose Future is more bright in Pakistan; English blogs or Urdu Blogs?

In my view English blogs have a bright future. The reason is that English is widely understood language and that way we can reach the whole world; having said that I am not undermining the future of Urdu blogs but it should be in proper Urdu script then.

How Pakistani bloggers can benefit from blogs financially?

My business acumen is nil… so I can’t comment on that.

Do you think Pakistani bloggers tend to remain somewhat self-centered and really don’t go out of their shells? Is it the oriental style of blogging, or they are still unsure about it?

I don’t think Pakistani bloggers are self centered. They like to speak their mind and in the process often get intolerant. They can send their view across politely as well.

What do you think where the Pakistani blogosphere is right now?

It’s on the right path but we have long way to go to be recognized on an international level.

Who are your top five favourite bloggers in Pakistan?

My favorite bloggers are

1)     Sarah

2)     Nadeen

3)     Aadil

4)     Kashkin

5)     Tazeen.

Have you ever become stunned by the uniqueness of any blogger in Pakistani blogosphere?

Not exactly but I do believe every blog has something new, something interesting to offer.

What is the future of blogging in Pakistan?

It’s bright and positive. Many people blog because they want to voice their opinion about various issues confronting us in our daily lives. It’s a nice activity besides it provides a virtual platform for the likeminded people to get together and share their views.

You have also got a blogging life, how has it directly affected both your personal and professional life?

Blogging gives voice to pain, angst, frustration and happiness. My writing has been evolved due to blogging. I think differently. Professional life only gives some interesting perspectives and stories to share with the world.

What are your future plans?

I don’t plan things as such. As for blogging, I intend to carry it on.

Any Message you want to give to the readers of The Pakistani Spectator?

Keep reading and promoting good articles and literature. Don’t let the habit of reading die. Encourage yourselves and others to write good stuff. Stay positive and peaceful!
