India and America Are Not Threat to Pakistan

By Sumaira Bajwa • Oct 7th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 10 Comments

If we want to rise above the ashes then we need to break the stereotypes. We can choose our friends, but we don’t have any choice of our neighbours. Especially, when it comes to the countries, one cannot change its neighbors without resorting to any misadventure, which Pakistan hasn’t.

Pakistanis are fast becoming aware of the fact that after all they are better be allies of America rather then confronting them and there is a great debate going on at the ground level about having cordial and practical relationships with the Americans, and Pakistanis want to enjoy the peace and progress with the help of Americans.

The dynamic step envisioned by the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari is also very welcome and it’s right on the track. Zardari is right when he says that “India has never been a threat to Pakistan I, for one, and our democratic government is not scared of the Indian influence abroad.”

We have to support Asif Ali Zardari when he imagines Pakistani cement factories being constructed to provide for India’s huge infrastructure needs, Pakistani textile mills meeting Indian demand for blue jeans, Pakistani ports being used to relieve the congestion at Indian ones.

India is fast becoming a world power. China is already on its way to becoming one. Pakistan on the other hand is drowning in the blind ocean of instability and chaos due to the confusion and playing in the hands of some distorted old fools, who still have some silly day dreaming to do. Zardari has asked for $100 billion from the world community. That would be hard, but even harder will be to win the support at home for making the relations with India cozy and green.

When Zardari says that: “I am not going to fall for this position that it’s an unpopular thing to be an American friend. I am an American friend.” Then we should support him and say that we as a nation are also friend of the world’s oldest democracy and we are very much interested in having a cordial relationship with world’s biggest democracy in our neighbors.

  2. You are right, with friends like Zardari and India, who needs enemies.

  3. Zardari Saab is right

International relations are purely based on national interest. in curent situation a destabilised Pakistan is totally against the national interests of USA & arch rival India, so in this sense USA and India are no threat to Pakistan. What Pakistan has to be concerned to protect, safeguars it’s intersest to limit within reasons their military and over political influence in region. I am sure Pakistan India and USA will do fine in near future, for joint interests, none of them have much choice or options available. Other choices leads to confortation and destruction. It’s not on the table at all. Economic Growth in No 1 Priority for all three powers, and they are working together to acheive it against all odds. It’s a unique joint venture of Pandit, Mulla and Uncle Sam. Good luck

  4. You forgot to mention a couple of other “good statements” given by our”president”.The freedom fighters in Indian Occupied Kashmir are Terrorists, finally someone has supported what India has been claiming for a long long time,I (being from Kashmir) cant explain in words that how “great” it feels to hear it from our “President” and the other statements—world is a safe place now because of Bush——American drones are operating in Pakistan (and killing innocent people) with our consent. Looks like Mr.10% has struck a deal with US and India too,a true businessman.

Iqbal said “Us Rizk say mout acchi jis rizk say aati ho pervaaz mein kotahi”

lets see when our dear “President” makes necessary alterations to the above mentioned line , I am waiting for that time a and waiting for another article of support from Ms. Sumaira————–Great Goingt

  5. Hi all,
Musharaff said Blood of kashmir run through his veins and we will fight 1000 years. I thought Zardari will be lynched for his statement by pakistani people. There is not much of street riots for kashmir except in blogs like TPS and ofcourse the politicians of Kashmir who were living on this fight between Pakistan and India.
You have Nukes.Your tanks are better than ours unless we import more from russia.Your fighter planes are cheaper and better except our SU30s.Ofcourse your submarine has indigenously developped longer range while we have outdated Kilos.
Your best friend china is much superior to India in everyway and Your army is a major NON/NATO ally of USA.
But we are better than you because we have democracy and we can call our leaders all names and our army obeys our polliticians who are much worse corrupt than your 10%.
The Kshmiries are venomised by Saudi Arabia just like your Mullahs and they just want independence from India though they are much better off than your kashmiries economically and politically. But they want to live under 10% which you yourself detest.
Remember Maulana Maudoodi of Jamaat-i-islami and Guru golwakar of RSS were both created by British and both supported British during war and Both opposed Independence of India and Pakistan as they opposed Quaid -e -azam and Gandhi repectively.

  6. Zardari statement is not surprising at all. It was very much predicted here on this site that how Zardari is expected to strike a deal with US. Please link: “The Deal that Zardari may strike with US”.
    Link here: http://www.pakspectator.com/the-deal-that-zardari-may-strike-with-us/

Sumaira; you have come up with an Idealistic resolve that we all wish to dream about. But alas; the ground realities are different. In the wake of the prevalent anarchy and turmoil in the country; probably Zardari may be left with the only option to gamble like this on the subject.

    But;
    • Are the American with all their sabre rattling not knocking at our doors and are all out attacking on all front , on ground, as well as in the media and to see Pakistan crumbled down?

    • Has CIA not been able to infiltrate into our lines and is successful to create and equip the Tehriks like Tahrik e Taliban (TTP) with most sophisticated weapons and resources. Even the FM radio propaganda stations provided by them about 20 in all, are so powerful that Our Army is unable to jam them?

    • Is this Tehrik not on its rampage to challenge the writ of Pakistan government in all spheres through terror and violence and is creating the chaos in society to destabilise Pakistan and make even our endeared assets like nuclear arsenals.

    • Don’t we find the political parties even in government, like JUI and Jamat e Islami working at the back of TTP and were the instrumental in establishing the Tehrike while they were in government?

    • Have you ever seen JUI of Fazlur, Jamat e Islami or the Pro-Tehrik Channel; Geo TV, especially in Capital Talk programme, ever found condemning the heinous crimes being committed by Tehrik e Taliban and declaring them the traitors?

And have those 11 Indian consulate turned into rest resorts and are now open as the Indian Restaurants offering Indian Cuisine and other sumptuous foods and are screenig Bolly Wood Movies?

Third bullet point; Please read as:

    • Is this Tehrik not on its rampage to challenge the writ of Pakistan government in all spheres through terror and violence and is creating the chaos in society to destabilise Pakistan and make even our endeared assets like nuclear arsenals vulnerable.

    Many thanks

    Saeed Khan Says:
    July 16th, 2008
No country, including India has any plan to confront, or attack Pakistan ever. It was always Pakistan Foolishness, or PANGA got them involed in a war, Pakistan was never ready to fight over a long period of time, and often quit prematurely. In East Pakistan, our Politician decided to loose it, and blamed India. They wanted to get rid of East Pakistan anyway. In Kashmir if not quick Victory, then why fight with India, SO CEASE FIRE.

  9. We people are too much focusing on zardari’s words that is surely waste of time as he himself dont know what he is saying most of time as he is usually drunk most of time but surely not all time. So there would a clear difference of opinion and acts when people are in state of drunk or when not.He is alternative of Musharf in US books for democratic drama or we can say US is punishing us by imposing such character on our most important post as we badly humiliated their blue boy Musharf..This punishment will be remain as such as long as we dont accept US suprmacy.
These stupid remarks are part of t zardari’s normal life and now we should realize that why BB had sent him to solitary confinement to US apartment for five years as she couldnt bear such unbalance and cheap character any more.
