INDEPENDENCE- The Moment of Truth!
By fzuberi • Aug 15th, 2008 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 8 CommentsI will start with the line that one of my very old teachers & friend messaged me this morning…
“Sixty-one years ago a nation was searching for a piece of land, today THAT same piece of land is searching for its nation…”
Is this really where we are…. after these past sixty years?
Or is it what is being made for us to feel?
Yes, there is inflation, yes definitely there is a price hike in everything, yes there are no basic facilities being provided to us by the authorities…
Yes there is no peace on our streets…yes there is an economic crisis looming in front of us…
Does that mean we should start pointing fingers at one another & yelling this is all because of you…?
Or does it mean we should start fighting each other or beating the hell out of each other the second we get a chance?
When the terrorists strike down your door and start shooting your brothers & sisters down, it is not the time to start to run or say who left the door open?
It’s time to protect your siblings & family!
This independence that we take for granted & make fun of… was an impossibility once not very long ago in the past….my people fought, sacrificed & died for it!
This Land of the Pure…as some use as sarcastic piece of words was really something like that to a lot many some 60 years back…
If the walls start thinning and the houses give no shelter or security…we will only have the sea to dive into…as there is no escape from our enemies…as we ARE surrounded..
But, my dear friends, I am not hopeless of my future…
My Lord never lets me down…..I have people like Abdul Sattar Edhi and Sailani welfare people among us…who never fail to give hope to my shinny hopeful eyes…
Looking out from the same jail bars; Two pairs of eyes
One saw the mud and the other the skies
In this time of great need these people rose to the occasion and provided food to the people who were going to die of hunger…a very basic necessity…needed by the poor of our country…
It is my country ! I am recognized by it…
Lets do something different for a change…
Lets ignore the jeeay jeeay jeeay bhutto slogans yelled instead of jeeay Pakistan slogans on this most ouspicious of occasions…
Lets see what we can do for our country ?
This country was there when we needed it…to give us a place to live, a place to grow and become what we are…Lets now give it back what it needs…
Its Nation…
Where is the nation when our country needs it ?
Lets find our nation from within us
For God’s Sake
Lets Strive for our integrity…
This Really is OUR MOMENT OF TRUTH…
I STILL have hope…
-peace

“Looking out from the same jail bars; Two pairs of eyes
One saw the mud and the other the skies” Impressive lines.

As I see it, we as a nation haven’t been able to develop a character as it ought to be. We do not have a dearth of men of quality and understanding but the cream unfortunately hasn’t been able to ride to the surface and rather the scum shadows the arena. We need to get rid of the scum. Sometimes, even a single person can make a difference. You have given the example of Abdul Sattar Edhi and Sailani Welfare, another example is that of Muhammad Yunus from Bangladesh who changed the whole scenario with his Grameen Bank.
Changes do not occur overnight, to reach the destination you have to take the first step.

Nawaz, Pakistan cannot go along: Benazir
Friday, August 15, 2008
Karachi, August 15, 1998
Addressing a large crowd at the Nishter Park on Friday, Leader of the Opposition Benazir Bhutto declared that Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan cannot go along and, therefore, he should resign or face sacking.
“On this 51st Independence Day this mammoth rally is the verdict of the citizens of Karachi that Nawaz Sharif should step down to pave way for interim national government. People do not want the government which cannot protect their life, property and honour or run the affairs of the country smoothly,” Benazir declared. She said 51 years ago, this country was achieved by the Muslims to spend their lives in peace with honour, with all the basic facilities available and with a stable economy. “Unfortunately, when we look around today we see that was achieved because the vested interests never gave any weight to the opinion of masses,” she remarked. The 16-party alliance, the Pakistan Awami Ittehad (PAI), headed by Allama Tahirul Qadri, failed to attract big crowds despite large presence of supporters from rural Sindh. Although, the show was mainly organised by Dr Tahir’s party, it was dominated by the PPP.
Benazir said that Nawaz Sharif had disappointed the people of Pakistan as the price hike is reaching an unbearable point, unemployment is high and killings are routine. She said that Nawaz Sharif conspired with Leghari and ousted the PPP government because it was working for the people, to elevate their standard of life and to make the economy stable. She said that in this regime, even the men-in-uniform are not safe. “People want peace and the PAI will get them peace,” he said.
“The dictatorial decisions of Ayub, Yahya, Zia and his political heirs brought the country to this stage where it faces internal and external threats,” Benazir remarked. She said that Pakistan is isolated on the international arena and those claiming of breaking of Kashkol and achieving self-reliance are visiting various countries to get grants and loans.

Does the repetition of a comment really add to its force (if there is any)
Yes it does; truth must be repeated over and over and over again, so that those of you have been cursed by amnesia might remember that you have been had over and over and over again by these liars and manipulators for their personal and limited agenda. It depends how long you wish to take it lying or you might wake up and face the truth and recognise the thugs.
FZuberi, thank you for giving words and meaning to millions of your compatriots; you have a talent for expression of feelings and thoughts. I am sure those who read you will stop and think what is it that they can, personally, contribute to make country a wonderful place that we all wish it to be.
Blessing!
Before cursing evil characters like zardari and shariffs people shouldnt forget the dyansty of monster mush who was once blessed by all kind of powers for conifiscating their assets. or public money from them even at that time if he had hanged them on criminal charges even then no body bothered as people were fed up of their tussels. But instead of this their assts were protected even transferred to safe destination with the royal exits of all such characters in comfortable places. He and his ex generals had spent billions on NAB cases that were only used as blackmailing tool to such evils. Nobody can deny this truth that by default MusH was a strong ruler of absolute powers who could have brought the pure justice system for his nation at least by punishing such characters and could have brough back Pakistani wealth from such looters but its again tragic truth of our histroy that he offered them Mother of corruption a NRO to protect such vipers and helped them of their safe return .
After 60 years of independence we are just trying to get rid of slavery culture but each year more segragation of classes on basis of sect religion, status and wealth is appearing on our social scenario.
Musharraf is no more an issue, unfortunate, his enemies have prevailed. With the help of propaganda blitz they blinded the people of Pakistan. What next? Remember there used to be a man by the name Mohammad Zia Ul Haq and exactly 20 years ago ‘an act of God’ made him disappear in the sky. He was also a dictator (lets forget about all the wrongs he did as it is not relevant to the issue at hand) and we witnessed great jubilation on his final departure. And a new era of ‘democracy’ started and we had civilian rule, most Pakistanis remember it as a period of ‘misrule’ (if you can recall that period). WE saw how the two main political parties wasted the oportunity in power politics, each securing access to power twice and formed governments each time and neglected willfully all the national interest. Finally the people of Pakistan were so fed up that in 1999 Musharraf was the most welcome saviour.
Now, for some, joyous jubiliation time has come again. The vindictive politicians have won. Lets see if politics of vendettas will end with President Pervez Musharraf’s departure. I am afraid, this will not be the case. I suspect continuation of vendettas, after all old scores must be settled, there will be even fiercer fighting between partners of today making the federation even weaker. The political parties have been jointly ‘mismanaging’ the country directly or indirectly since election of February, resulting in inflation at its highest in country’s history, collapsed economy, insurgecies playing havoc with writ of the state, Talibans threatening our sovereignity (Qazi Husain Ahmad assuring us that Taliban are not against Pakistan!). With the present situation contnuing for another let’s say 3 months (which is no problem, considering the struggle for vacancy of president - Nawaz or Asif) and soon we, the people, will start hoping, asking, and finally praying for the army taking over, and will be obliged. And there will be jubiliation again and that traditional ‘Mithai’ (sweets) distribution and the ‘bhangra’ - the whole nin yards. A new cycle will start and we all here will be playing the same blame game.
I ask must we endure such painful cycles, perhaps yes, since we refuse to differentiate between the lesser evil and the greater. Why we must discard Musharraf, after all he is by far the lesser of all the evils around.
Mr Malik, Mr Alam, Ms nazia, Mr Aashique
I m grateful to all of you to have taken out the time not only to read my words but also thought it appropiate to write something in return…
Thank you all of you, but the point of writing this not to recall any acts or cycles that may be going along but the point of the matter that i wanted to incorporate in our minds is that hope SHOULD never be lost…
no matter how difficult the circumstances maybe…we should not loose hope…
And last of all strive for the common good
Let’s TRY to do good…
lets ignore OUR own desires
& help our own poor brethren…
Lets Make a Difference
