Holding Back Visas for the US Officials
By Shayan Khan • Dec 26th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 2 CommentsNo sane tourist could come from United States of America to visit Pakistan in these times. All those who are coming to Pakistan from US are either new recruits at the ever-expanding embassy in Islamabad and mission in other cities, or they belong to either Xe Services, or Dyncorp or any other private security contractors. Some of the coming passengers are the ones who provide technical help for the machines doing operations in the FATA region.
For couple of months, there were continuing incidents in which US nationals were breaking the laws of Pakistan. Sometimes they were out at the wee hours to take pictures of installations, or at sometimes they were travelling in vehicles with fake number plates and sometimes they were caught at the places where they were not supposed to go.
Now in a fine and bold step, the Pakistani officials have refused to give visas to many US officials. US media is livid over this development. Oh can any body refuse them visas, to great Americans?
Haqqani, our ambassador in Washington is justifying the step. “The Government of Pakistan wants this to be worked out in our mutual interest. That said, we have our own procedures, we are a sovereign country. We have our own bureaucratic methods and we are trying to work them to the best advantage of both our countries,” he told the CNN’s Situation Room.
That’s good of Haqqani.

Do not assume things when its not factual. Did USA needed permission for Drone attacks? if not then let the system work. Why you want to refuse the visa to our great friend and donor for the betterment of our country. AS the saying goes “either you are with us or with the terrorist”? Is there any other choice and if you have guds to say No then do so instead of beating the old BUSH.
Somehow it is good development taken by Pakistani Government. But also once again consider the presence of Americans and their activities in Pakistan. Must try to stop them at Government and Intelligence level.
