Henry escapes Fifa ban over handball

France’s Thierry Henry will not be punished for his hand-ball against Republic of Ireland in a world-cup play off match

The French international handled the ball twice in a build up of a goal scored by Gallas

Hand-ball by the Barcelona striker proved costly for Ireland as they did not qualify to play in the world cup

The world governing body’s disciplinary committee concluded there was “no legal foundation” to deal with the case.
