Hazara Versus ANP : Muslim League Factions Fight
By Ali Yar Khan • Apr 13th, 2010 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 12 CommentsOnce it is said that the city of Peshawar is too far away from the Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan and there was a huge disconnect between two cities. This was a symbolic hint suggesting that the Islamabad never understood the problems and realities in Peshawar and in other provincial capitals for that matter.
What happened in Abbottabad, the divisional headquarter of Hazara shows that there is actually a real and very deep gap between Peshawar and Abbottabad and this gap has increased so much so that it has become almost impossible to fill. As Awami National Party went ahead with its unfair demand of name change of NWFP to Pakhtunkhwa favoring the majority Pukhtun and ignoring the other ethnic parts like Hazara.
Hazara is not a small part. It starts from Haripur and goes all the way to Kohistan. It has seven national assembly seats and twenty provincial assembly seats. Besides of Hazara, there is a growing resentment in other minority factions in this province. Also this name change has triggered demands from other ethnic groups in other provinces to demand their own province. Opportunists and turncoats have become ultra-active to cash in on their vested interests and its the display of another round of bloody politics, which has remained the hallmark of our dismal history.
Now Hazara has erupted. People are dying and the property is getting damaged. Life has come to a standstill. The ANP government is trying to quash the protests by brute force and they are trying to silence the popular demand at every cost. While that happens the angry workers of PML-N who feel cheated are protesting too, but within their party ranks. PML-Q, the lota league of Musharraf has once again reached to the fray to exploit the issue and they are playing politics on fire and blood.
This is the time when Nawaz Sharif should come out of his forest and prove that he is a real lion and not a jackal in the skin of lion. He has to come to the Hazara from where he has been milking votes for too long and has never returned anything except having a son-in-law. Nawaz Sharif must understand that he is loosing Hazara also very fast and he has to come out of Raiwind. He should be worrying about his dying voters and not about becoming third time premier.

The demand of Hazara people is right, but from where the Q league has come into this?
I am very shocked over the ongoing situation of such a peaceful city due to attitude of provincial Governmetn.
Grow Up People !
This is not good which is happening right now
Everyone wants to get a share of this current happening. No1 really cares that 8 people have died. Is this sad or what? These people do not realize that they will die one day. If this was some planned thing then the masterminds are no less than the extremists. They are killing people for their own means and benefits.
I agree with akif because its not good for us and our whole nation
I am fully in agreement with the blogger’s point of view. If the people of hazara want a separate province, so it be. It will boost the long struggle for Saraikee province in Punjab. Let the two more provinces appear on the map of Pakistan, as per the popular wishes of the people of these two regions. If in India, more provinces can be created why not in Pakistan? Especially so, when there is a provision to this effect in the constitution.
It is very childish of these people to engage in a scuffle, not so important, when people are already facing a bigger problem of terrorism. This change in name can be delayed, or the name can be changed according to the wishes of all the residents of this province.
Zainab, no its not childish. What if tomorrow any part suggest an ethnic name for the whole of Pakistan?
regards
In my opinon the demond of seprate province is justified by two reason.
1. The people of Hazarah dont want any the ethnic name of NWFP as there are also living Non pashtoons( Hindko, urdu, seraiki, chitrali and kohestani speakers etc) in NWFP.
2. so if Majority is want to speard the hate among the people of NWFP by ethnic renaming of province then Hazarah is not going to be part of this hate( as they hv long history of discrimintion by Pashtoon)
and hazarah is not represnting any specific ethnic group. There are pashto (batagram, kala dhaka people etc) and non-pashto speaker pathan(jadoon ,sowati, treen etc ), kohistani, and hinko speakers(Awan, tanoli and others) so my point is that Hazara is never been an ethnic name and nenver represent any ethic group.
In Last the peolpe of Hazara should not be part any drity plotics of N and Q .
Long live Pakistan
This is so no gud !! whts goin on !! God help Pakistan
@ Dr. Ayesha: Well, let’s say it’s not childish, but I feel there is no need of renaming the province again, because we are already dealing with a clever enemy and it’s destroying us from the inside. Engaging in these activities will only make things difficult for the law enforcers and the security situation of the country can get worse.
