Hafiz Saeed : Should We Get Rid of Him?

By Dr. Hassan Isfahani • Aug 7th, 2009 • Category: Politics, Worth A Second Look • 28 Comments

Why not? People like Hafiz Saeed are just symbolic entities which can be sacrificed and cashed if and when needed.

Whether Indians accept it or not, Hafiz Saeed is not really a terrorist. He has no say in the matters of any Lashkar within and outside Pakistan, and he was mainly involved in forming his own power group through charity organization Jamat ud Dawa, which has also been banned upon UN (read US) pressure.

Jamatud Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has also been released by the court as there is no proof against him. In their desperate attempt to nail someone beyond Ajmal Kasab, Indians want to have something big. They are trying to nail it on the head of Hafiz Saeed. In their weekly briefing, the foreign office of Pakistan has described the information shared by India against Amir of the banned Jamat-ud-Da’awa as insufficient and that Pakistan is carrying out action in Hafiz Saeed case according to its law.

Hafiz Saeed cannot be handed over to the Indians. That is as simply and straight as that. For one, there are no proofs and then whats the point? Indians will link Hafiz Saeed with the various Lashkars and would try to undermine the freedom struggle of Kashmiris in Indian Occupied Kashmir, and then would start raising hue and cry over the supposed role of ISI. A new vicious and dirty round of blame game would start, and it would also undermine the peace efforts and confidence building measures between the two neighbors, which are also, sadly enough, arch rivals.

Hafiz Saeed is no one in Pakistan. He cannot even win the elections in his own neighborhood in Sargodha, let alone he be the any factor in the power corridors of Pakistan. His connections with the militants are just flimsy, and terrorists like Baitullah Mehsud, Fazlullah and other tribal warlords brush Hafiz Saeed aside with disgust. There is a thin line between perception and reality, which loses relevance when majority of people start believing in their perception, of people or events. The Indian perception of Hafiz Saeed is phoney and their lobbying in the world for Hafiz Saeed is also fruitless, because the man is just a farce. Pakistan chuckles when Indians spend millions of dollars in lobbying, propganda and diplomacy just in the name of Hafiz Saeed. This assumes the force of reality, when the majority shares a common perception.

Pakistan Should punish Hafiz Saeed for, let’s say, his former links with the militants. This will not only calm the world down, but would also give a huge boost to the Pakistan’s image in the world, and Pakistan would get an acclaim in the world corridors without any penny, as it will built on top of the Indian money.

  1. Only if he’s found guilty.Punishing him just for the sake of pleasing the world would be unfair.

  2. “”Jamatud Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has also been released by the court as there is no proof against him.”"

    R u sure?????

Intentionally, prepare a weak case against him.

    Present it to the court.

    The courts will release him.

    Its that simple.

  3. @#1: Wow!

What do I hear, is it ‘justice’ or Hypocrisy?

  4. Why do you think it’s hypocrisy? He’s no chacha mama of mine.I have talked about LAW here.Should be simple isnt it?

  5. If you want to hang people JUST for the sake of pleasing the world , hang Hamid Gul first.

  6. Where’s law and justice and all those wonderful things when some of those you hate are concerned?

  7. Like?

  8. Come on, stop pretending.

  9. O’ ja! I am wrong, I am sorry. No, no you don’t want to hang, you just wish to throw to dogs.

  10. And you stop ‘assuming’.EVERYONE has a right to a FAIR trial and that includes your hero as well. When I talk about his trial , I also talk about his cronies being dragged to the courts. But for ‘obvious’ reasons you choose to ignore that!

Kindly go through the comments to see who made the dog comment you’re talking of and about whom.

    Thank you!

  12. How does a court ‘loaded’ with judges with personal agendas can even pretend to conduct a FAIR trial? There no ‘obvious’ reasons that I am ‘ignoring’ by ‘choice’. Enlighten me what are those reason which are so obvious to you and so oblivion for me.

  13. Oh so what do you want for Musharraf?Puppets like Dogar?Look who’s talking about ‘personal agendas’ here.A blind follower of a dictator who got the entire superior judiciary arrested for his own selfish interests.LOL

The OBVIOUS reason is your blind love for thy hero.It makes you spew venom at the antis for no good reason.

No.11 has been replied as well.Awaiting moderation.

  14. no . 9 has been replied as well *

  15. Hallelujah - look who’s talking !

Dégoûtante - do you what this word means, let me help you - it means disgusting!

By the way that attempt at ‘hagiography’ isn’t to bad only the guy is a ‘pimp’. In the name of ‘justice’ he started playing what he should have been doing in that famous market in Lahore whose lost ‘diamenod’ he apears to be.

  16. Save your sympathies for Musharraf. He needs them more than anyone else.

    Good night!

  17. Now that you have had a good ‘poison cleansing’ from your mind - You can sleep better now, Veeeeery Gooood Night!

  18. Natasha, Aftab,

I guess the topic is related to Saeed, and not any other guy. Please concentrate on it.

Coming to the topic. The case the proof and any other thing that people in Pakistan say will not be looked at seriously. In previous cases where India provided documents, people like him were put under house arrest and then were released or whatever. Nothing happened then.

For people to believe something they will need to see it work for them.

As far as Dr. Hassan Isfahani is concerned, are you sure he has no links to LeT? I mean are you his PA or something to be so confident.

  19. I am fedup of people like Hafiz Saeed, Salauddin and others. They are good for nothing. Only if India leaves its occuption from Kashmir and stop terrorism in Pakistan, people like these in Pakistan would automatically vanish.

  20. Maria Sultan

There is no occupation is kashmir.

How about Pakistan stopping its “occupation” of balochistam.????

Then terrorism in large areas of Pakistan will vanish too!!
