Greasy Monkey Pole

By Maria Sultan • Jan 25th, 2010 • Category: Politics • 2 Comments

It has remained our sheer bad luck that those who manage to clamber up the greasy monkey pole in Pakistan start considering themselves above every law and above every other meremortal. They have even passed laws that immune them from any punishment by the courts and they cannot be touched by other institutions. It’s the classic show of discrimination, which is the other name of protecting corruption.

Right now if you look at Pakistan, you would see that every major political player and especially those in the government are sorrounded by all kinds of charges. Many of these charges are provable and true as broad day light. But nobody is touching them. Courts have given out the verdict, but the rulers are not listening. This will only lead to constitutional, judicial and political anarchy in the country after clash of institutions.

The way President Zardari has come out of Islamabad and have started going in public shows that he is embracing himself for the clash. Lawyers, PML-N, establishment, judiciary and the media are also organizing. Things are getting quieter on the war fronts, so forces are also focussing on the internal polity.

Once again the PPP government has failed to deliver and are about to be ousted due to corruption.

  2. @ Peer Khan

Why do you keep repeating the word “Illitrate Nation” in every statement you post on this blog. I guess we all recognize the fact that majority of Pakistanis are illiterate but you can’t paint the whole nation with same brush.
