In past few years, we have witnessed many good programs apart of fresh news on Jang Group’s satellite channel named as GEO. Till now it had progressed from one to many other sub-channels.
I became much fond of GEO TV when it was the era of Iraq War, in-fact, I have rented cable connection before that first time in 2002 at my residence. Geo had telecasted many live images of Iraq War, earning much support from its viewers. I remained a 
crazy viewer of GEO even after knowing that it belonged to Jang Group.
My all image of GEO shattered when it came the time of earth-quake in October 2005. On 8th October 2005, GEO remained in Islamabad and showing Margallah tower collapsed and government personnel including Shiekh Rashid, who even not knew what had happened in the northern region. He kept saying that nothing had happened serious due to shocks. I think he was watching GEO the whole day after his first appearance on 8th October morning claiming that everything is in orders and earth-quake has done nothing serious.
Fortunately, I tuned AAJ TV that after noon, I got shocked after hearing about initial news of Kashmir and Hazara division. Then I started to compare the two channels and during this search I sometimes tuned into ARY TV. AAJ TV also telecasted live after-shocks. This changed my approach towards GEO TV. Now a days some information regarding current scenario is missing on GEO TV and one has to switch to AAJ TV or ARY One World to get exact information especially about news about government and its authorities.
I also remember the day when Hamid Mir’s Office in Islamabad was attacked by Police and made damage to the construction. Or the day when GEO TV telecast was jammed in some areas of Pakistan. For one day GEO TV logo remained black and also black ribbons on arms of news casters. There were many rumors about how that black logo turned colored after one day.
Now I am habitual to switch my TV to AAJ or ARY when there is a breaking news or important detailed news on GEO TV. We can witness GEO TV inclination towards government can be witnessed by their appraisal to government on many events not caring about that the nation knows the truth.
GEO TV hired many renowned persons like Doctor Shahid Masood etc to elevate its position and got success due to hard work of such personalities. This inclination can be witnessed by clip of President’s 12th May 2007 speech in their current program of Zara Socheiay (ads also on today’s newspapers). In the telecast of Zara Socheiay GEO TV claimed that the President abide by his promise of independent judiciary (not knowing the fact that nation knows the truth), But they don’t telecast the other clip in which President claimed that we (MQM) has shown power in Karachi today (on 12th May 2007). One must have noticed that GEO TV ask for public polls on many issues related to government and some time it escapes announcing results.
This is also in news that GEO TV follows a policy dictated by “somebody”. Therefore, the policy of Jang Group is also strictly being followed in GEO TV.

The mir brothers of jang and geo are one of the biggest black mailers.
But GEO shows programs like ‘Hum sub Umeed say hien’ in which they ridicule even the president, how can you say that blameless statement?

Do you know where that policeman is who leaded the attack?
Do you know what happened what happened the day when Geo telecast was jammed?
Mr Rahim Shah is very right.
The attack on GEO was self-inflicted to gain cheap popularity.
O you are mixing things up. The attack on GEO was the result of the skirmish between Wasi Zafar and GEO’s correspondents.
Geo is just a few shades different from PTV now. Their coverage of CJP’s resintatement was quite bad. On the other hand ARY had their reporters at the SC in person conducting interviews with slogans of “Go Musharraf Go” in the background.
Geo is a party against govt, all their programes are biased.All they prove is govt is responsible for every social evil in pakistan.Geo is a political party not an independent news channel.
Someone rightly says,
“Putting behind bars just 1500 lawyers out of 100,000 and 4,000 political activists claiming to represent 160 million people, banning 2 channels out of 80.
IS THIS THE EXTENT OF UNREST IN PAKISTAN?”
Wolves in sheep clothing have been exposed who are hiding behind attractive slogans of independent judiciary, democracy, human rights etc.
In a country where people wants to rule their areas by their own so-called Sharia Systems and challenging the writ of Govt, an emergency is the least answer.
If anyone comes on the road with aggressive designs to make law and order situation (whether lawyers, jounalists, human right activists etc) should be dealt with strong hands.
And Pakistanis has told the so-called AWAMI leaders that unless the CHILDREN OF BENAZIR, NAWAZ SHARIF, QAZI H.A., HAFIZ HUSSAIN, MUNAWWAR HASSAN, IMRAN KHAN,FAZL-UR-REHMAN AND ETC WILL NOT COME ON ROAD FIRST, THEY WILL ALSO NOT COME ON ROAD FOR ANY KIND OF AGITATION.
Where are their children!!!?
As far as GEO is concerned, it should be banned long back due to its partial approach, and irresposible behaviour and political affiliations of some of it’s key members and anchor persons.
Look at the irresponsibility of this channel when it made stock exchange crash by presenting a rumour as news and thousnads of poor people lost their hard earned money.
Why this Geo tv not signing the code of conduct? Like so many others did.
Does anybody knows what is this code of conduct actually is?
These chnnels must not be allowed to show whatever they like to show in the disguise of so-called independent media.
Jang newspaper also be ashamed off while printing picture of one single burning tyre in the middle of the road and five children aound it with the caption of “People of the …. area Protesting against emergency.”

I’ve heard some news here and there about Geo TV’s performance in such way but actually never paid much attention to it. But now looking at both side of the story, I’m getting a blurry vision of Geo TV. But my husband’s still not much aware of how Geo is manipulating it’s viewers. So I’m going to gather more facts on what the truth really is…I hope I get somewhere with this. But, really thanks for the article and the comments were helpful as well. I hope viewers of all Pakistani news channels should do the same thing. ( I.e. especially Geo TV)
