Free Judiciary Under the Rug
By Gul Raiz • Jun 21st, 2008 • Category: Politics • 7 CommentsAs the controversial culmination of the long march has largely sucked the life out of the lawyers movement, and there is no chance of yet another such mass protest, the lawyers top leadership and the PML-N, the champs of the Pro-Nov 2 judiciary are now showing some flexibility for the resolution of the judges issue, and now it seems that the 29 member Supreme Court would become a reality.
That solution surely puts the lofty ambition of a free judiciary under the rug, and this also puts yet another heavy lock for a long time on the introduction of a just and free justice system in Pakistan. If 29 member Supreme Court is convened, then it means that the PCO judges would be in majority, and the tenure of Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary would end at the end of this June, and hence that practically means the Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar as the chief justice of Pakistan.
It is also learned that the suggestion to include the clause of increasing the judges to 29 in the finance bill was done after consultation with Aitzaz Ahsan, and Aitzaz now desperately wants to put this matter at rest, and start taking part in the active politics through PPP platform in order to cash in on the stature he has gained through the lawyers movement.
So much for the restoration of the judges and this issue.

As matter is in hands of corrupt and weak politican who had returned back to country on the foriegn guarntee are neither sstrong enough nor they are interested in free judicary that would create hurdle their future plans.Nawaz sharif need this stanze for raising his coward status and zardari is replica of mush govt so one shouldnt accept miracle from corroded brains to do something real good for a state. Its only people’s power that would lead them and pressurise them to stick to their electons agenda and both groups are trying to hide their heads under the sand. The actions of seul khurum samad indicate the effects of lawyers movement has been started transferring to common people specially young generation.Blaming Atizaz for delaying is quite short minded assumption as he is still standing behind the CJP when even his party PPP has completely changed his stanze. For the last years what ever he has done is actually the height of his stamina and power and what ever reputation he recieved after this cause would be unmatchable after he become MNA or minister.
Nazia, lets talk about the “abnormal” methods of getting rid of the President Musharraf that you suggest. You can hardly be an advocate for free and fair judicial system or Rule of law.

“Mussarf ’s obstinate behaviour clearly indicates that he would nt leave the top seat in normal way. I hope our giant corrupt politician would find some abnormal way of getting rid of him and after that the actions of lawyers community would start and that is to make him accountable for his national crimes.”
Nazia, since when two wrongs have started amounting to a right? You might want to say it in so many words what you understand by suggesting “some abnormal way to getting rid of him” . Hopefully, you are not recommending assissination of the President of Pakistan Mr. Pervaiz Musharraf. I mean disliking or even hating a peson, even if he happens to be Head of the State, is one thing but outright asking for such “abnormal” modes is a shocking obervation, especially when it is made by those who profess rule of law and justice. What I would have liked to read from your “great” admirers to point this out what you have written in the heat of the moment, but no looks like you spoke their thoughts.
Aftab, you might want to stop picking fights with the commentors. It’s time you learn how to engage in a discussion. You don’t have any right to insult others. You may disagree, but you must not hurl insults in taunts and overtly.
Listen Mr Paracha this is very kind of you for your this advice. I am not fighting with n o one and neither I need to. It is a valid point, the author Nazia wrote this and I need to know exactly what is at play here. If you have a possibility you might like to answer this:

What judiciary are you talking about? I am spellbound to learn that the Pakistan exchequer paid Rs 500 million to these few deposed judges against only 5 months salaries. Can someone divide this money to the no of judges and then divide again to 5.
There are hundred of thousands of cases in the SC for years pending, what the f*** were thes judges doing after earning hefty amount in salaries.
It really is a shame; this is what one calls organized crime. One dirty hand is washing the other dirty hand. These thieves are robbing us dry and the stupid fools are targetting eachother with all kind of allegations in the name of pro judiciary and what not. If this goes on like this, one can almost anticipate the depth of the pit we are destined to fall into.

dont worry about aftab’s attack on commentators, its his right and we have open mind to listen his point of views.
So mr Aftab why I am simply using abnormal term for mussarf and corupt politicans that they all dont believe on rule of law and they all proved this thing while they were in power.Mussarf adopted all unalwful and abnormal way to enhance his reign .Even after 18 feb when a clear public opinion was written on the wall , again he denied people’s views. At this moment he is most abused person of our country even kids of streets are using his name as part of their joks but his love for sticking his seat is so enormous that no reasonable man ever consider him as an honourbale man.As seeing the present political scenario it is now obvious that only US tactics or power of parliment can remove him and he is no more interested in the opinion of 140 million people.
Samething is happening in political groups.Zardari is handling all govt matters without any portfolio,in punjab sharif brothers are doing same drama that are no way called a normal way of governance. So
in that conditions how one can accept a normal end to those characters. These are my apprehensions on the bases of our history .Liaquat ali, bhutto ,zia ul haq, benzir all died in an abnormal way and their folllowers mostly used their dead bodies to cash sympathies from the public but not in any single case the heirs or followers persuaded the real killers that who are actually behind those killings. No body was put on trail for the abnormal death of their highprofile leaders.
Lawyers movement is my hope and dream that with its success we might be able to put the foundation of a lawful scoiety as it is only civilised way of controlling ruling mafia in my homeland. Those who accept law and justice or good governance from zardari, sharif ,mengal, altaf and any military dictator like character surely dont like point of views but I am sorrry that I cant favour and accept such absconders and looters to repeat their ugly mistakes again and again.
