False Positive Celebrations
By Anwar Jalal • Nov 28th, 2008 • Category: Politics • One ResponsePakistani rulers are on the one hand , often and then ,claim rather boost that government intends( yes they are correct for using the word intends as there is difference between action and intentions ) to initiate soon such measures and programs which would result in stabilizing the economy of the country ,however on the other hand they and some intellectuals too are celebrating the news where in the US vice president elect Joe Biden has introduced a bill in the Us congress which intends to provide 1.5 billion $ /year developmental aid to Pakistan in the coming years ,which could be extended from 5 to 10 years.
Why this celebration–? They are delighted over this news because it heralds of US aid for ten years or so .This does imply that our leaders have no such serious economic program in their minds which may lead Pakistan to stabilize its economy and help it stand on its own feet. and thus get rid the country from begging There delight ness also reveals that Pakistani rulers consider it as blessing though such aid is never unconditional and US aid in particular always get restrict our freedom in foreign and defense fields.
However it seems that our rulers are least care about it and their main aim is getting aid and their claim of stabilizing Pakistan economy and getting stand it on their own feet is just rhetoric and shallow boosting The culture of dependency on foreign aids probably suites them .And rulers feeding always on aid and charity can never lead nations towards true freedom and progress and advising them seems to be just fruitless effort A Pashto verse has aptly described this truth . It says “How i should sing songs of freedom and progress to the of people such nation which are being fed on charity and aids “
