Doped Mohammad Asif

By Amna Gilani • Jul 14th, 2008 • Category: Entertainment • 16 Comments

According to the media reports, Director cricket operations PCB Zakir Khan has confirmed that Mohammad Asif was tested positive for a banned substance during random testing on May 30 during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

So that proves that Mohammad Asif is a chronic addict, and that tells a great deal about the current affairs of our cricket team, which has become a minnows over the course of these years. Earlier on, when Mohammad Asif and Shoaib Akhtar were proved guilty of doping, the main brunt was faced by Shoaib Akhtar, the bad guy of the PCB, and Asif was considered as a lamb, and everyone thought that the bad Shoaib has cajoled and duped Mohammad Asif in doping, and even the appellate committee gave Mohammad Asif a very minor punishment as compared to the Shoaib, and PCB also rallied behind Asif, and nobody listened to Shoaib Akhtar.
As Asif was as guilty as Shoaib, so Shoaib Akhtar was genuinely furious and as soon as he got a chance he had a go at him with the bat, and once again Asif was the victim and Shoaib was the bad guy. I am not supporting Shoaib Akhtar, but the thing is that both are as guilty as hell. Then the idiot Asif was  caught in Dubai with opium, and now his dope test has proved beyond doubt that he is a shameless addict.

PCB should make him an example, as he has managed to defame country many times in no time.

  1. Welcome back after long break. Keep posting your nice stuff.

  2. Dear Talha Lodhi, welcome back. where you were since long? keep blogging and be in touch on this TPS.

  3. Saleem Bhai, I do understand this, I learned more than I wanted to know, from this site…:)

I find it appalling, though we should not be surprised. Family values are not what they use to be in Pakistan. Not to say these type of things did not happen before. Our society was more hush hush on this subject in the past. People are getting married much later than before due to economic realities as well. The crux of the problem is the basic family model, which has become quite weak.

Thank you for sharing more on this subject. I do no with to derail Ms. Gilani’s topic here and will not say more.

  4. above statement should say, I do not wish to derail Ms. Gilani’s topic here.

I do hope others will share their views on medicinal use of drugs. I recall reading Gulf News and the excuse used was, that the opium was for medical use. Strange drug of choice for pain due to being highly addictive.

  5. yes it was for medical purpose .he wanted to research wether it can be utilized in medicine as pain killer or not .he is running a drug treatment centre where addicts are given such low profile addictive so to counter abstinenence syndrome by gradually decling the doses till patient are effectively discharged .
he has a good habit to test the credibility of the drug by testing the doses on his own body so that it may not react as adverse effect on his patient .thats why the drug was found in his blood. please believe me he is innocent .

  6. Dr. Razahaider,

The drug that is used to wean off drug addicts is methadone. Typically, the treatment plan is over the course of at least 12 months to be effective. It is a gradual process that also requires psychological treatment for the patient. Most drug addicts do not finish the program and end up where they started from.

It is likely that Mohammad Asif still was using the drugs but I cannot comment, for I do not have all the facts. Even if he was receiving treatment, it is highly unlikely that the drugs were detected via a blood test. Only way to test on a longer term basis is the DNA from a hair sample.

  7. come on doctor sb it was just meant to taunt this chap Asif .you cant be serious in dictation.please go through my comments in the light of taunting, once again regards

  8. Good amna to indicate this topic. Our cricketing body PCB ( i am not calling it cricket managing body) has shown their interest only in grabbing the money sine1987( Pakistan host the first world cup in 87) that was the time People realized how much money can be collected through cricket and PCB) , PCB invested in cricket since 1987 and we rose to best and now we become minnows in cricket with a detoritaing face. our players caught in drugs, match fixing, injuries, handling issues with Yousaf and Inzi,Bob’s death and ICL banning.i felt PCB has actually become a political based organziation and PCB employess at middle level wanted to save their jobs by keeping bosses happy and all seniors are either want to become PCB chairman or wanted their suppotted chariman at JOB. PCB’s official kept changing in last 15 years, PCB should actually invest at school levels , add cricket nurseries for 10 - 15 years age and than hire professional coaches for all level and palces. i have seen U15 - U19 crciket playes, so much talent and yet fail to deliver once reached to finals( as happened to paksitan in 1999) we celebrated their Runner up position but never concentrate on the point why we keep loosing. apart from nursery level setups , we need to have strong coaching setups with technically sound selection committee. at last PCB sould also help players to mature in social life and handle them. i remember indian board has offered U - 19 Players ( $100,000) for playin IPL but that money was handover to their parents with a written proof how they spend it… Asif, shoaib no wonder are THE BOWLERS one team can have , but money and fame handling they both could not manage and PCB isntead of helping them kept trying to save them and the become HOLY COW in cricket and now they ROTTEN piece, facring our nation’s face. i hope things would go better if we only stop Political based hiring at PCB. Cricket would had been the sport to raise our international pride as nation but it looks like we are going to lost the opportunity of hosting champions trophy. Poor Lobbying example again from PCB if we lost that… IF ICC moved the Champions trophy from pakistan , it would be some days for cricket lovers in pakistan.
