Doctors Hospital offers Imanae’s family Rs 50 million
By Bilal Sulehri • Dec 10th, 2009 • Category: Misc • 16 CommentsThe Doctors Hospital administration has offered Rs 50 million to the family of Imanae Malik as a settlement, a friend of the family told Daily Times on Tuesday.

It was reported that the hospital administration, along with two politicians and senior officials of the Punjab Health Department, approached the family of Imanae Malik late on Monday night and offered them Rs 50 million as compensation, in return for withdrawing charges against the hospital.
However, the family of the deceased refused the money, saying they were not fighting for money but to punish the hospital for its wrongdoings. However, the family asked the hospital administration to institute a hospital charity and provide free medical services.
Nazar Chohan, the convener of the committee formed by the Punjab chief minister has also said in his report that some doctors including Dr Kamran Cheema were influencing the committee for favouring Doctors Hospital. The committee has proposed that the Doctors Hospital be closed down. A judicial magistrate on Tuesday granted a four-day physical remand for two officials of Doctors Hospital for their alleged involvement in the death Imanae Malik. Investigation Officer SI Muhammad Nawaz brought the General Manager of the hospital Zia Ullah Bokhari and Dr Hafiz Sanaullah before the court in handcuffs. The defense counsel argued that under section 322 of Pakistan Penal Code, the offence of his clients was bailable, adding that the administration of the hospital could not be held responsible for the actions of one doctor.
On the other hand, the prosecution counsel said it was not a case of mere medical negligence but that of murder. He said as the employers, the hospital administration was fully responsible for the negligence of its doctors, and therefore for the death of the three-year-old Imanae. The prosecutor further told Daily Times that the three injections administered to the dead girl were yet to be recovered. He also accused the hospital administration of tampering with the original hospital records, which were yet to be recovered. He said that the two officials could also be a key to the arrest of Dr Sundeep Kumar, the real culprit, who was still at large. Magistrate Sahir Islam heard the arguments of both the parties and later granted a four-day remand and ordered the police to bring the police to bring the accused before the court on December 12.
Daily Times was told that during the course of investigations the Johar Town police had added seven new sections from the Pakistan Penal Code to the first information report.

can any body verify that dr kamran cheema is the same who is heading the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in lahore services hospital?
This is the same story of elite group to cover its crimes by covering it with handful of money.
it is good to hear that Imam family have refused this bribe and might help to save other children of deprived class.
I hope people of Lahore forgotten the horror stories of masood hospital where fathers and two doctor sons were fully involved on kidnapping the poor villagers and then selling their kidney to rich recipients of gulf areas.
Before commenting on performance of this hospital first go through its web and see that all its CEO or director or other faculty members have come from USA and claim to be maintain standard of US medical association there.
It is an another example of that even educated and foreign return class by passes all procedures if system of check and punishment are not implemented by state.

it is strongly suggested that these doctors together with their additional foreign qualifications are reported to the American Board for malpractice, their licence is revoked and they are held accountable for their actions-they really need to be prosecuted. If their qualifications are from the UK then the General Medical Council UK needs to be urgently contacted to alert them of these doctors so that their fitness to practice is under review. Further to this, the Home Office both in the UK and US need to be alerted on these doctors. The Government inquiry has revealed the following shocking news that has led to the demise of this little girl:
. There is no doubt as to massive criminal negligence/handling in the above case due to the following reasons:
a) The use of Intra Venus Dormicum 2.5 milligram was not required at all for such small burn.
b) Injection Pavulon is used for induction of Anaesthesia for those patients who are to be put on Ventilators during operations; it was criminal to use it in case of a 3 years kid suffering from simple burn. In fact this drug is used for relaxation of respiratory muscles; hence administration of this drug was not at all justified.

I am not doctor but I am aware of all basics which you provided in detail .
So I always stand in front of all medical teams whenever and wherever I take any person of my family in emergency or as outdoor and Indoor patient.
This is Islamic republic of Pakistan a third world country where SOPS are nothing more than piece of paper so people should be attentive and careful before trusting others specially on health issues,
If you study the psyche of people as a doctor you see people love to take antibiotics as normal routine without understanding its complexity on long term basis,.They prefer short term and high potency medicines for fast relieving Before taking it they never think of developing and using their natural immune system for routine sickness and injuries which automatically starts working when something abnormal attacks on our natural functions,
The new generation are showing different kinds of trends, few with the aide of technology enhance their knowledge and develop an ability to counter such professionals when they go wrong in serious matters.
Some parents/people become so relax and keep themselves busy in modern technology that they become addicted of this fast way of living. They want quick solution of their all time incidents and in this race some time they lost their real and natural way of life.
There is some part of negligence is also attributed from young parent of Iman but I pray for this poor soul and wish that her tragedy might uncover crimes and severe weakness of our system that would save loss of other little fairies of this ugly world.
It is very shameful act of doctor hospital and with the money the child would nt come back..it puts a bad impression on jst on drs hospital bt also on all drs faculty.. peoples are afraid to go to drs..so end the story of that dr which could do that and put him in jail and hang that person so that they know the value of some ones life and that put a lesson on all doctors thn after that they care the people like their family and treat with them with care and affection wether it is a smal child or an old person..
yes dr kamran cheema is the same who is heading the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in lahore services hospital..
mainee saari story parhi hai ,, or khud hospital ja kar is ko inquire b kiya hai….. yeh sara sar Duty Doctor (Sundeep Kumar) ke ghalti hai bulkey bohat baraa BLUNDAR hai.. Allah Paak is Bachi k Parents ko Bohaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatt Zyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadaaaaaaaaa sabaar or Himaat atta kareee (Aamin).. and i wish k koi aisa Powerful shaks ya organization in ke HELP karay or is maslaay ko or b zyaaada raise karee or na sirf Doctors Hospital bulkay Govt. Hospital sub ke sub jin main is tarah k BLUNDAR roz roz hootay hain or koi pochnayy wala nai hota, un ko sabak hasil ho or Nasihaaat miley, or woh apni Duty profesional ethics k saath perform kareeen.. bulkey pera medical staff b apni duty theek tarah kareen…

Yes he is same.he is nephew of atizaz ahsan and son in law of ex top bureaucrat who was all time benazir ’s cabinet secretary.
He is very popular in lahore for giving highly strong doses to his patients. Some of his patient also died after they developed multiple complications while having treatment of lungs/asthma and related allergies through him.
He is also US returned and very popular licensed killer of Lahore.
If this particular doctor being talked about above is that bad, has anyone informed the American board from where he is qualified as a specialist????? I think action speaks louder than words and if people feel so strongly about him they should document all these incidents in a dossier and sent them to the American Board for investigating and rendering his qualifications invalid.
@mr 10
he is living in Pakistan and no American board will come here to investigate like that as you said.
You know in Massod hospital kidney scam lot of doctors from US were in contact with Pakistani doctors and gave consultancy to rich recipients and worst treatment to poor donors.
So all follow the law of” when in Rome do as Romans do.
the day our system of justice would take its pace all such handling would be easier with in country and in front of their people who trusted them after God.
I really don’t agree with that. There is no need for the Americans to come and investigate. All you guys have to do is compile your documented incidents of this doctor and send it to their relevant council in America who issues licences for them to practise.
Following guidelines on Good Medical Practise UK:from General Medical Council UK who regulate Doctors’ fitness to practise:
Good Medical Practice: Being honest and trustworthy
56. Probity means being honest and trustworthy, and acting with integrity: this is at the heart of medical professionalism.
57. You must make sure that your conduct at all times justifies your patients’ trust in you and the public’s trust in the profession.
58. You must inform the GMC without delay if, anywhere in the world, you have accepted a caution, been charged with or found guilty of a criminal offence, or if another professional body has made a finding against your registration as a result of fitness to practise procedures.
59. If you are suspended by an organisation from a medical post, or have restrictions placed on your practice you must, without delay, inform any other organisations for which you undertake medical work and any patients you see independently.
The point is the justice is to be done. The main culprits who are still wandering out there should be held responsible.i.e.owners of the hospital.Who hired or put Dr sundeep Kumar to practice in hospital. The GM of the hospital is just an employee and his descion making powers are compromised definitely by the owners of the hospital. So big wolves should be caught to do justice.
Regards
@12 and @13,i have worked with dr kamran cheema as a medical officer,he is known as PAISA PEER among the junior doctors. He has no respect for poor pts, which i have observed myself. He is so greedy that in Huma wasim case ,he gave the fitness to travel inspite of severe pulmonary hypertension(C/I to air travel) and infective endocarditis(fungal). He says that he was unable to diagnose it as fungal, although he was giving heavy antibiotics for considerable period of time..I think as a rule ,if the pt did not show any improvement on antibiotics, she should be given antifungal, showing his negligence towards rich pts also.
Well dear all,i hv read the comments.Every one is talking different. In my opinion there should be an inquiry(which i think must hv done by now).to determine the actuall responsibilty of the negligence.either it is done by doctor, who was on duty.Question is did he write the same injections which r given to the patient ,because these are anaesthetic drugs we use in operation theatre to anaesthetize the patient for surgery,or these drugs r given by mistake. As far as hospital is concerned they should be punished after that ,how come they gave the job to this kind of doctor or paramedical staff. But before this we hv to know the actuall negligence, either it is doctor or paramedical staff. There is no doubt its a negligence.and punishment shd be given to the culprit. This has to be decided by the court,an we all believe in courts now.
hyptertension can also be minimized by just taking some relaxation exercises each day~:~
