Desired Rumor

As General Ashfaq Kayani met with Musharraf and a lengthy discussion followed, rumors started to spread from Karachi to Khyber. First, the rumor surfaced that Pervez Musharraf has been asked to resigned by the chief of army staff. Then the rumor came that General Kayani has asked Musharraf to vacate the Army House. Then the rumor burned that a plane is ready at Chaklala Airbase to take Musharraf and his family away. Then rumor surfaced that Musharraf is ready to reason and is just asking for a safe passage and the guarantee of no vendetta.

In the last days of Shah Iran in the late seventies, Iran had become a hub of rumors. People were really desperate about the state of the affairs and the hate of Shah was the most prevalent thing in the country. Daily rumors were born and died about the escape or death of Shah. There were more of a figment of imagination of hapless people, who gave words to their desire and they became favorite rumors.

Now in this age of stunning telecommunication, due to the mobile phones and the Internet, rumors spread in a flash. The miserable people of Pakistan, who hate Musharraf more than anything have given words to their desires. After telling each other their wish of Musharraf’s ouster, they started their wait eagerly and still waiting, as new rumors are surfacing.
