well, i dont agree that over population can be the biggest hindrance in a country's progress. those plead against over population still beleive that old, failed and rejected idea of malthus. malthus had had a very ordinary appraoch and he had now idea of the mericales that science could produce. why do people always think negative? why we always haunt by the idea of feeding more mouths why dont we think of having more hands to work? we have the resources we will always have in abundance but the need is to properly utilise them. yes this might seem rediculous to many of you but if you like to go a bit back and study the claims which were warmly wellcomed across the globe are now a complete failure. when we think of over population, the problem of food security and disease control comes into mind but we forget the mericals of biotech. i can say with confidence that those speak against over population always under estimate science.

thank you :)

Learned blogger started the article with ponderous facts and figures but ended up ummm not so well. We are master in painting the horrible picture of an issue but we certainly lack in forwarding concrete suggestions and remedies. The opium oriented China of 1940s has become the most powerful economic state. For them population was not an issue. Of course population is one of the factors that hinders the progress if it crosses the limit, but period, this is not the whole bane, there are others and big ones.

Talking of control of population, our dear ex president Musharraf has gifted us a factory that produces suicide bombers intermittantly. Pakistan's population issue is very well taken care of by these suicide bombers.

Good one! Some interesting piece of information. Let me add here one fact that we overlook many a times. Pakistan has become the 6th largest country of ODA that is assistance and receives almost $2.2 billion every year. So what you think if the state justifily utlisez this money don’t you think the situation can be improved in a fast period of time relatively?
