CV of Pakistani Girls Collection Mania

By Amna Gilani • Dec 13th, 2009 • Category: Features • 39 Comments

It’s jaw dropping to observe that what people could do to get contact information of girls. I have written before as how people use to buy the mobile numbers of girls from the easy load shops, and how some other people sell or trade these numbers. I recently found another scam through which people try to get the mobile numbers, addresses and all other personal information about the girls and women.

JobsNama is a partner website of TPS, which deals in Jobs in Pakistan, UAE and other places. In the absense of its moderator for some days, I volunteered to manage it. I got to know that on daily basis, I was receiving jobs to be published at JobsNama. Here was the typical job description:

Job Title: Female Secretary Required

Job Description:

We need a graduate (Intermediate will also do) female secretary who could handle phone, emails and filing of the CEO of the company. Attractive salary, yearly bonuses and medical care is part of the package. Drop your CV at following email.

You may replace the secretary with any other petty jobs. There is no mention of the company or its address or any other tracking information. I smelled a rat there.

What I did I submitted my CV to the email address. After one hour, I received a phone call from a male asking me to come to a certain address for interview.  I asked him whether I could come straight away and he said yes. I took three of my friends with me and we reached to the address. It was a flat in Gulistan-e-Johar, and it wasn’t certainly any company. I went to nearby police station and lodged a complaint against the person and gave police all the information. I must say that the attitude of the police was good and they promised to take immediate action.

I would also request all of you to be fully aware of such scams. If you are a female, then please take extra care in submitting your CVs. If you are male, then you must raise awareness among your ladies about this. This could prove very dangerous.

  1. Frankly speaking am not your fan but for the first time you wrote something that is really useful for the Pakistani crowd.
I must say its an awesome article and must read piece

  2. Well done Amna. You have once again produced a gem.

  3. Jazak Allah

  4. Amna
The advertisement itself explains its ambiguity as professional secretary must has proper qualification.
In the absence of proper address one should be alert that there is something wrong behind this invitation.
Ladies should think very minutely and carefully before going to such addresses as we all know very that active gangs of hunting young girls for other purposes are very common in our all cities.

  5. Bravo

  6. Keep it up Amna. I think you must also spread it around

  7. Its very rare that people do like this but to be on safe side, people should check completed details of the company before visiting their offices. Such things spoiling the job market and people trust in society.

  8. well done Amna…..u r doing a gr8 job by highlighting these issues which r of gr8 concern to general public……Keep up the gud job

  9. BRAVO…BRAVO! DEAR AMNA… U HAVE DONE A WONDERFUL JOB AND MADE US AWARE OF SUCH SLIGHT BUT DANGEROUS MISTAKE… JAZAKALLAH..

  10. Amna,

You gave your real phone number. That is a very dangerous thing to do. Could you have given some other number from which could you use on a temporary basis? Like a calling phone booth, or something.

Better yet would be to use google voice. The girls in Pakistan should use that to protect themselves. You sign up for google voice and pick a number for yourself. Then you can give that number to anyone and when people call that number the call is forwarded to your personal cell phone number. Same way with text messages. You can have more control to ban numbers and people from calling. Your personal (real) cell phone number is never known by anyone this way.

  11. Amna,

Could you email, this is important. I knew how to email you, but forgot.

  12. Thanks for this warning. I would be very careful from now on. I am thinking of erasing my number and address from the CV and just giving the email address. Would employer consider it rude?

  13. Best of luck and my all prayers are wid u.

  14. Hi
Thanks for this article. Inshallah this article will lot of innocent girls. Please place this article on other sites so that other girl get awareness about this issue.
By the way Pakistan Police say Achy kee to Umeed nehain hay. Baqii Allah Khair keray

    Once Again Thanks

  15. There is one way the girls can protect themselves from this situation. They can put only their city on the resume, instead of their address. They can put there email address on their resume (CV), and create a professional one for cv only.

The last, and most important, is not to put their real phone numbers. They can sign up for Google Voice and then use that number. Google offers a free service called “Google Voice”, where you pick a telephone number from hundreds of numbers. When anyone calls that number, it forwards the calls (and sms) to your real phone number. So no one knows your real number. You also have better options of blocking people from the Google website.

  16. Well done Ma’am
It is very encouraging to see what you are doing.
    GOD bless you

  17. well done amna keep it up

  18. amna well done keep it up mind blowing

  19. How can I sign-up for Google voice, it seems to be non-functional in Pakistan and requires invites to sign-up ??, is there a trick ?

  20. Currently Google Voice is only available to sign up in US
