Crackdown on Sugar Hoarders : Geo Shahbaz Geo
By Rohail Butt • Aug 15th, 2009 • Category: Politics • 7 CommentsBesides of establishing a Ramadan package, the Punjab government of Shahbaz Sharif has come hard on the hoarders of sugar. The government has issued orders to take punitive actions against those sugar millers and traders, who have not been releasing the stock despite their commitment, causing a massive hike in the commodity price nationwide.
Not only the orders have been issued, but also already many godowns of sugar have been sealed and millions of sugar bags have been recovered. Raids are being conducted in Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Wehari, Multan, Attock and in various other towns and cities and many more are to come in the next couple of days. The artificial crisis of sugar is about to be blown by the determined chief minister.
Billions of rupees have already been made by the market players by increasing the sugar prices with an active connivance of the political leaders. Not only the government must recover the sugar, but it must also bring these market players and their patron politicos to the justice.

Court approves interim bail of Shumaila Rana
Updated at: 1431 PST, Saturday, August 15, 2009
LAHORE: The interim bail of former PML-N’s MPA Shumaila Rana has been approved as the complainant did not pursue the case.
Talking to Geo News outside the court Saturday, Rana said she always maintained she neither stole anyone’s credit cards nor did use them, adding the trial was a conspiracy against her, which fizzled out.
The police told the court that complainant was repeatedly summoned to take forward the case; but, they declined to do so. Accordingly, police believe that complainant is not disposed to pursue the case.
Meantime, the owner of jewellery shop submitted the written statement that Shumaila neither came to his shop that day nor did she buy anything. (what was that we saw on tv?)
