Constitutional Cold War

By Ali Yar Khan • May 21st, 2008 • Category: Politics • No Responses

While nation burns the robbers and suffer in silence, Zardari house in Islamabad is using the legal brain of law minister Farooq H. Naek at the full throttle. Pakistan People’s Party is eying a comprehensive legal package and some really dynamic changes in the constitution through the 18th amendment in the constitution.

From reinstatement of judges to the appointment of judges,  and from the supreme judicial council to national security council, from the appointment of governors to the appointment of attorney general, from 58(2)B to other presidential powers, this 18th amendment is all set to change with a thud.

PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, ANP President Asfandyar Wali Khan and JUI-F Amir Maulana Fazlur Rehman should also be consulted by PPP. If this 18th amendment helps in supremacy of the parliament then it would be a grand service. But all the coalition partners should work together and they shouldn’t be pulling each other legs.
