CNG Buses in Punjab
By Haris Hashmi • Jul 10th, 2009 • Category: Politics • One ResponseIt’s not less than any wonder that when the Pakistan is suffering from every kind of crisis ever introduced in the world, there is one man who is busy in servicing the people at full throttle while facing the challenges of terrorism, economic recession, and red tape and political rivalries.
Shahbaz Sharif is the living example of what Pakistanis can achieve. After the cheapest roti scheme, scholarships for the students and many other projects, he has introduced more than 2000 CNG buses in the Punjab of which 500 buses are on the road. These 2000+ buses will run in 10 big cities of Punjab. These 80 seater buses will help in reducing the load on the roads and will provide people a good replacement of their cars hence reducing the pollution and will make the environment more green, which is an alien concept in our part of the world.
Besides of the CNG buses, Shahbaz also is going to introduce metro-transport service in Punjab and this will make the intra and inter city travel a very pleasent experience at fraction of the cost. But Shahbaz must be aware of the transport mafia, which has always conspired against such people-friendly measures.

It is not first act of this kind.karachi has already been using these green buses for public transport for last 4 to 5 years. There is no harm of introducing metro schemes but how they do it is really a challenge or be more costly than normal price range as we have already created havoc on the name of urban development above the ground levels.
In Karachi musharf govt had already shifted this metro project to company of father in law of his loving son.We shouldnt had minded this wrong doings as ultimately its people who would have got benefit. But where the project has gone with all allocated money.Gone with wind to UK or still roaming in Karachi. a unknown mystery to taxpayers of Pakistan.
